Im hoping to goodness that someone can help me.

Its my sons birthday today and I purchased a usb adapter for his nintendo so that he could play online.

After massive probs with installation, I gave up on his laptop (which now wont connect to the net) and tried on my pc. A zillion things went wrong and as my PC needed wiping down again anyway, I chose that option.
There were two folders for deletion, not realising he had left the hard drive plugged in, I made a presumption that the two files were the standard ones the pc came with and that Id just forgotten that I had reinstalled that way last time.

Stupidly, I formatted the external hard drive, but not with quick format and installed windows on it. And, Im praying that I will be able to recover as much as poss from it. But how?

Any glimmers of light out there?
