Hi, I recently did a quick reformat on my girlfriends XP computer because it was running terribly slow, it all went ok but now the internet wont work. She uses a netgear network and uses a wireless router, but whenever we manage to get a connection the internet wont work, a notice just pops up saying "Cannot connect to webpage"
Can anyone help please?

Does it says 'Connected' on the access point you've connected to?

Try going to Start>Run then type 'cmd' without quotes and a command prompt should be open and try to ping google.com there by typing 'ping google.com' without quotes. This checks whether you are really connected to the internet or not.

Open your Device Manager and click on the +'s. Look for any yellow exclamation points and post back what they're by
Also the make and model number of the computer

Have you tried installing the wireless card drivers? She should have them on a disk somewhere, and if not then they will be on the netgear website.

Give me the wireless cards model number and i will find them for you. You will then have to download it, run it, install it, restart it, surf it

Good luck :flowers:
Please PM me if i have been assisting you and do not reply for 24 hours!

Merged two topics into one.
Just FYI - sometimes the posting of a topic will "hang", and clicking the Post New Topic or Add Reply button again will result in a duplicate post.
If this happens, just PM a mod and we'll delete it for you. If comments have been made to both topics, then we'll merge them together.
My browser caused a flood of traffic, sio my IP address was banned. Hope to fix it soon. Will get back to posting as soon as Im able.
