Ok well here the wats goin on.

1.My coms been acting quite slow lately so i decided to scan n check wats wrong. I use a anti-virus called Spyware Terminator. The computer guy who usually handles my com installed it and we have been using it. But i wasnt sure whether it was the best, so i used Kaspersky Online Scanner 7. Turns out i have quite a few bugs. Heres the report:

Thursday, January 1, 2009
Operating System: Microsoft Windows XP Professional Service Pack 2 (build 2600)

2.So then i used the anti-virus i have on my com already(Spyware Terminator)to scan the infected places. It picked up a couple n cleaned em up. Then i ran kaspersky again. Heres the second report:

So, it seems my anti-virus missed a couple of em. Well now i just need to know, what do i do now?

Thanks very much.

Go to the start menu - Select Run to bring up the run dialogue
In the requester box type in explorer
Now navigate using the left hand menu to the following location. Once found delete the file shown in red

G:\2008.exe
G:\XP-Update\ld.exe
G:\XP-Update\ldup.exe

alternate download link 1
alternate download link 2
  • Make sure you are connected to the Internet.
  • Double-click on Download_mbam-setup.exe to install the application. (If using Windows Vista, be sure to "Run As Administrator")
  • When the installation begins, follow the prompts and do not make any changes to default settings.
  • When installation has finished, make sure you leave both of these checked:
    • Update Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware
    • Launch Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware
  • Then click Finish.
  • MBAM will automatically start and you will be asked to update the program before performing a scan. If an update is found, the program will automatically update itself. Press the OK button to close that box and continue.
  • If you encounter any problems while downloading the updates, manually download them from here and just double-click on mbam-rules.exe to install.
  • On the Scanner tab:
    • Make sure the "Perform Quick Scan" option is selected.
    • Then click on the Scan button.
  • The next screen will ask you to select the drives to scan. Leave all the drives selected and click on the Start Scan button.
  • The scan will begin and "Scan in progress" will show at the top. It may take some time to complete so please be patient.
  • When the scan is finished, a message box will say "The scan completed successfully. Click 'Show Results' to display all objects found".
  • Click OK to close the message box and continue with the removal process.
  • Back at the main Scanner screen, click on the Show Results button to see a list of any malware that was found.
  • Make sure that everything is checked, and click Remove Selected.
  • When removal is completed, a log report will open in Notepad and you may be prompted to restart your computer. (see Note below)
  • The log is automatically saved and can be viewed by clicking the Logs tab in MBAM.
  • Copy and paste the contents of that report in your next reply and exit MBAM.
Note: If MBAM encounters a file that is difficult to remove, you will be presented with 1 of 2 prompts. Click OK to either and let MBAM proceed with the disinfection process. If asked to restart the computer, please do so immediately. Failure to reboot will prevent MBAM from removing all the malware.

Hey thanks for the advice. Ok well the thing is before i got your reply, i did some stuff on my own. Using a couple of methods, i managed to remove some of the infections. Heres the lastest report by kaspersky on the well being of my com:

Friday, January 2, 2009
Operating System: Microsoft Windows XP Professional Service Pack 2 (build 2600)
Kaspersky Online Scanner 7 version: 7.0.25.0
Program database last update: Saturday, January 03, 2009 11:03:56
Records in database: 1553494
Scan settings
Scan using the following database extended
Scan archives yes
Scan mail databases yes
Scan area My Computer
A:\
C:\
D:\
E:\
F:\
G:\
H:\
Scan statistics
Files scanned 87149
Threat name 2
Infected objects 3
Suspicious objects 0
Duration of the scan 03:59:56

File name Threat name Threats count
C:\RECYCLER\S-1-5-21-1482476501-1644491937-682003330-1013\service.exe Infected: Trojan.Win32.Inject.jtj 1
G:\RECYCLER\S-1-5-21-1482476501-1644491937-682003330-1013\service.exe Infected: Trojan.Win32.Inject.jtj 1
G:\XP-Update\ld.exe

But i manually deleted the "G:\XP-Update\ld.exe".(I deleted the entire XP-Update folder). Is that good or bad? As in is that folder important or not?

Ok so whats left is just the dang RECYCLER problem. Ok well other than downloading new stuff, is there any other way i could remove the remaining viruses? I share this computer and so usually downloading new stuff is plan B. Oh yeah once again i guess i should mention, i use Spyware Terminator and Spybot Search and Destroy.

So, now what do i do?

Cheers,
Aaron M.

Hi there

Re-run ATF cleaner again as before. Once done

Please download and scan with SUPERAntiSpyware Free
  • Double-click SUPERAntiSypware.exe and use the default settings for installation.
  • An icon will be created on your desktop. Double-click that icon to launch the program.
  • If asked to update the program definitions, click "Yes". If not, update the definitions before scanning by selecting "Check for Updates". (If you encounter any problems while downloading the updates, manually download them from here. Double-click on the hyperlink for Download Installer and save SASDEFINITIONS.EXE to your desktop. Then double-click on SASDEFINITIONS.EXE to install the definitions.)
  • In the Main Menu, click the Preferences... button.
  • Click the "General and Startup" tab, and under Start-up Options, make sure "Start SUPERAntiSpyware when Windows starts" box is unchecked.
  • Click the "Scanning Control" tab, and under Scanner Options, make sure the following are checked (leave all others unchecked):
    • Close browsers before scanning.
    • Scan for tracking cookies.
    • Terminate memory threats before quarantining.
  • Click the "Close" button to leave the control center screen and exit the program.
  • Do not run a scan just yet.
Reboot your computer in "Safe Mode" using the F8 method. To do this, restart your computer and after hearing your computer beep once during startup (but before the Windows icon appears) press the F8 key repeatedly. A menu will appear with several options. Use the arrow keys to navigate and select the option to run Windows in "Safe Mode".

Scan with SUPERAntiSpyware as follows:
  • Launch the program and back on the main screen, under "Scan for Harmful Software" click Scan your computer.
  • On the left, make sure you check C:\Fixed Drive.
  • On the right, under "Complete Scan", choose Perform Complete Scan and click "Next".
  • After the scan is complete, a Scan Summary box will appear with potentially harmful items that were detected. Click "OK".
  • Make sure everything has a checkmark next to it and click "Next".
  • A notification will appear that "Quarantine and Removal is Complete". Click "OK" and then click the "Finish" button to return to the main menu.
  • If asked if you want to reboot, click "Yes" and reboot normally.
  • To retrieve the removal information after reboot, launch SUPERAntispyware again.
    • Click Preferences, then click the Statistics/Logs tab.
    • Under Scanner Logs, double-click SUPERAntiSpyware Scan Log.
    • If there are several logs, click the current dated log and press View log. A text file will open in your default text editor.
    • Please copy and paste the Scan Log results in your next reply.
  • Click Close to exit the program.

I repeat and stand by what i said earlier. I share this computer with my brother. Downloading new software is usually plan B or maybe plan C. IS there absolutely any other way i can get rid of this virus or do i have to download something new. Thanks.

Cheers,
Aaron M.

Hi Aron

Did you run the scan with SUPERAntiSpyware? If so please post the results from the scan. From the Kaspersky scan I see two items that are in your recycle bin. Once ATF cleaner is run, then ATF will clear out temp and unwanted files from your hard drive including the recycle bin.
