OK here it goes. My computer has suddenly started to run really slow after I updated my AVG and downloaded the most recent windows updates. My computer is an HP 2.4 GHZ dual processor with 4GB ram, running vissta. I am running AVG 8.0.200. I don't beleive this is a virus of any sort because we are very carful about the site we visist, we never download fron the internet and I have used and updated AVG since I purchased the computer. However, When I updated AVG mant times it locks up all togethter and I need to restart, then the computer will not work properly and I have to restore to a date before I updated AVG. Since my last update yesterday the computer ois running slow again and when I go into the task manager my proesses are fine and my programs are fine but I noticed ( this also heppend in the past) that I can't get into the services tab. If I click on the services tab it just locks up the computer. I also noticed that the computer resources shows that the CPU usage is over 60 % sometimes spiking to 90% yet nothing is running. If I try the computer just locks up. It seems to me that some service is running and creating ahuge usage problem yet I can't get into it nor do I know whcih service I should stop.

any help would be appreciated.

Thanks

Oh and the computer also has windows defender running. Could that be a problem with AVG running at the same time.

Troubleshooting your problem may be very complicated

I would suggest disabling Defender

http://www.malwarebytes.org/forums/index.php?showtopic=8279

I would also download, install and update MBAM

http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/forums/ind...t&p=1064809

If a scan returns clean and there are no other signs of malware I would uninstall AVG

I figured out the problem by restoring back to an older date before updates. It appears some of the windows updates crashed during install. Once i started reintalling the update a few at a time then restarted everything worked fine.

my home is all good now.

However I have a new problem, my laptop has virtumonde and I need to resolve that issue.

I see that you have pursued the issue of your laptop here: http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/forums/t/193177/virtumonde-need-i-say-more-help/ To avoid confusion and because the initial issue in this topic has been resolved, I am closing this thread.
