Hi there! My problem started several months ago when my WACOM tablet mouse started malfunctioning (double clicking for every one click). I updated the driver. That didn't work. I uninstalled the software and reinstalled from original discs. That didn't work. I again tried to upgrade the driver. Still no luck. Finally I had to unplug it and use a regular mouse to get work done. (I also tried the WACOM on other computers - where it worked fine with the same software. This leads me to believe that it is something on my computer that is buggy.)

Next the Adobe Suite software started acting weird. I was unable to open new files. I was unable to save items. Various fixes on the Internet (unchecking "Version Cue" for example) solved the problems temporarily but they were getting worse and unpredictable.

Finally I created a new user login on my computer so that I could begin fresh. This worked as a temporary fix but now that profile hangs on load and I'm back to the original user login.

I scanned the computer with Trend Micro PCCillin and found viruses that it "could not quarantine." I scanned with AdAware and removed all offenses. I downloaded and used AVG free anti-virus. That again found viruses and removed them. (Sorry, I'm unable to name them. Just that they were marked "TROJAN" and appeared in different files each time I scanned.)

Yesterday I tried a system restore but after two failed attempts I finally got the system to restore to a late November date. (After the problems already existed.)

Today I've scanned again - found more ads and more trojans. Deleted those as well. And now here is my DDS scan:

Hello and welcome to Bleeping Computer

We apologize for the delay in responding to your request for help. Here at Bleeping Computer we get overwhelmed at times, and we are trying our best to keep up. Please note that your topic was not intentionally overlooked. Our mission is to help everyone in need, but sometimes it takes just a little longer to get to every request for help.

If you have since resolved the original problem you were having, we would appreciate you letting us know. If not please perform the following steps below so we can have a look at the current condition of your machine. If you have not done so, include a description of your problem, along with any steps you may have performed so far.

Upon completing the steps below another staff member will review and take the steps necessary with you to get your machine back in working order clean and free of malware.

If you have already posted a DDS log, please do so again, as your situation may have changed.
Use the 'Add Reply' and add the new log to this thread.

Thanks and again sorry for the delay.

We need to see some information about what is happening in your machine. Please perform the following scan:
  • Download DDS by sUBs from one of the following links. Save it to your desktop.
  • Double click on the DDS icon, allow it to run.
  • A small box will open, with an explaination about the tool. No input is needed, the scan is running.
  • Notepad will open with the results, click no to the Optional_Scan
  • Follow the instructions that pop up for posting the results.
  • Close the program window, and delete the program from your desktop.
Please note: You may have to disable any script protection running if the scan fails to run. After downloading the tool, disconnect from the internet and disable all antivirus protection. Run the scan, enable your A/V and reconnect to the internet.

Thanks for re-opening the topic!!

What I've done since the original post:

- I de-fragged the hard drives and backed up my data
- I uninstalled the WACOM software/drivers
- I uninstalled the Adobe Master Collection (all Adobe software)
- I deleted all remnant WACOM and Adobe files from the computer
- I re-scanned for viruses (using Trend Micro PC-Cillin)
- I re-scanned for malware (using AdAware)
- I used ERUNT registry backup to back up the registry
- I used CCleaner (from CCleaner.com) to clean out cookies, temp files and to scan the computer registry for issues
- Using CCleaner I deleted all Adobe and WACOM entries in the registry (as well as entries for previously deleted/uninstalled software)
- I reinstalled Windows XP Service Pack 3
- I reinstalled all Adobe software (Master Collection CS3)
- I reinstalled the WACOM software and drivers

AND after all of that I'm having the exact same problems as when I originally posted. The WACOM mouse double-clicks when it should be single-clicking. The Adobe software freezes/crashes when opened.

I've also followed all tech support guides on the web for those two products and no luck. These had me try processes including:

- Using msconfig to disable all startup items (problems still existed with everything disabled)
- Reinstalling software from the desktop instead of the CD (still have problems)
- Deleting and re-creating preference files (no luck)

Here is my DDS scan result:

Hi Ravie13,

Welcome to Bleeping Computers

My name is Tomk_. I would be glad to take a look at your log and help you with solving any malware problems. HijackThis logs can take a while to research, so please be patient and I'd be grateful if you would note the following:
  • I will be working on your Malware issues, this may or may not, solve other issues you have with your machine.
  • The fixes are specific to your problem and should only be used for the issues on this machine.
  • Please continue to review my answers until I tell you your machine appears to be clear. Absence of symptoms does not mean that everything is clear.
  • It's often worth reading through these instructions and printing them for ease of reference.
  • If you don't know or understand something, please don't hesitate to say or ask!! It's better to be sure and safe than sorry.
  • Please reply to this thread. Do not start a new topic.
  • Unfortunately, if I do not hear back from you within 5 days, I will be forced to close your topic. If you still need help after I have closed your topic, feel free to create a new one.
I apologize for the delay in response. We get overwhelmed at times but we are trying our best to keep up.

Your issue may not be malware related. However, lets see what we can find.

Please download ATF Cleaner by Atribune.
Download - ATF Cleaner
Double-click ATF-Cleaner.exe to run the program.
Under Main choose: Select All
Click the Empty Selected button.

(If you use FireFox or the Opera browser
To keep saved passwords, click No at the prompt.)

It's normal after running ATF cleaner that the PC will be slower to boot the first time or two.

Then

Please download Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware to your desktop.
  • Double-click mbam-setup.exe and follow the prompts to install the program.
  • At the end, be sure a checkmark is placed next to Update Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware and Launch Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware, then click Finish.
  • If an update is found, it will download and install the latest version.
  • Once the program has loaded, select Perform quick scan, then click Scan.
  • When the scan is complete, click OK, then Show Results to view the results.
  • Be sure that everything is checked, and click Remove Selected.
  • When completed, a log will open in Notepad. Please save it to a convenient location and post the results.
  • Note: If you receive a notice that some of the items couldn't be removed, that they have been added to the delete on reboot list, please reboot (shut down your computer then restart it).
Also "copy/paste" a new HijackThis log file into this thread.

Also please describe how your computer behaves at the moment.
