I tried to burn a CD this afternoon and received the following message "Disk Burner and Software Not Found". The Drive is also missing when I go to My Computer ? I burned a CD about 2 weeks ago and everything was working fine. Have no idea what went wrong, I have not installed anything new. I have two programs that I use to burn CD's ITunes and Windows Media. Would appreciate any advice or help. By the way Happy New Year everyone!

Go to Start...Run...and type in "eventvwr.msc" (without the quotes) and press Enter.
Click on the System log file and look for error messages around the time that the computer is started, and around the time that you tried to burn a disk. Then do the same thing for the Application log file and let us know what you find.

In the System Event Viewer There was a Yellow Warning sign W32 Time, and in the Sevice control Manager there was a Red Error In properties it said The application Manager service terminated with the following error. The specified module could not be found.

I took a print screen of each, however I don't know how to upload to this page.

Not a problem. There's no need to post the pic as you've described them pretty well.

The Win32 Time error is normal on several different levels - it mostly says that it couldn't connect to the Windows Time Server. As long as it's not constant, the error is self-correcting.

The Application Manager service is more severe, but may not be the issue either. But here's a link to some info about it: http://www.blackviper.com/WinXP/Services/A..._Management.htm

I'd suggest going to Start...Run...and type in "services.msc" (without the quotes) and press Enter.
Scroll down the list to Application Management - check to see if it says Started and Manual.
If it's not started, right click on it and select "Start" - tell us any error messages that you may receive.

The startup key for this service is the same as for many other services (BITS for example).

Can you visit Windows Update and get updates? This'll tell us if just the Application Management service is dead, or the rest of the associated services are dead.

Just wanted to let you know that my problem has been fixed. Did a check on the hard drive for errors and when this was complete, low and behold there was my CD-RW Drive D:. Thanks to all for your input.
