First, let me wish everyone a Happy New Year! :trumpet: :flowers:

I apologize if this is not the correct forum to post this question (silly newbie that I am), but I am having problems with my USB ports on my HP Paviliion ze5155. When plugging in an external USB device the device gets power from the USB port but is not recognized by the laptop.

I do receive a notice upon initial connection that says" device can run faster if connected to a Hi-Speed USB 2.0 port". So, if my laptop sees a connection and gives it power and sends the pop-up why can't I use the port to get to device? It also doesn't show the device in the "safe to remove hardware" section.

I would appreciate any assistance.

Kind regards,
JG

Happy New Year !

From what I see, I'm not sure that system supports USB 2.0.

Have you tried removing the USB controllers (in Device Manager), rebooting and allowing the drivers to reinstall?

Done a check of Device Manager for indications of problems?

Do you have your drivers CD which came with the system?

Thank you Louis,

I tried all of the items listed and still no good. I suppose I need to find a new usb adaptor for the laptop.
