Posted 30 December 2008 - 01:45 PM

A couple of days ago my windows automatic updates turned itself off, and I was unable to turn it back on. About 5 minutes after that pop up ads started telling me my machine was unstable, and others for antivirus software, and even pop up ads for video games. I ran my Norton antivirus and it showed a vundo virus. I then downloaded spybot, and did the usual turning off of system restore, disconnecting the internet, and rebooting in safe mode. I ran spybot and my antivirus. Norton found a vundo trojan while spybot found virtumunde. Both programs claim to fix (or quarantine in the case of Norton) the affected files, but the files were back on my next scan, and the pop ups are still happening. And I still cant turn automatic updats back on. I have downloaded the hijack this program, but do not have the skills needed to go through and know what files are bad. Thank you in advance for your help!!!
