I put a CD into my hp cd writer and it wouldn't rip it. When I tried to eject the disk, the light blinked like it wanted to open, but wouldn't. My computers' diagnostic test says " The device, \Device\CdRom 1, has a bad block" What do I do ????? I tried the paper clip idea, didn't work. PLEASE HELP!

Sometimes (with the paperclip too), have had to use a thin screwdriver to pry (verrrrrry carefully) the drawer open. Push the paperclip in the hole, then again, carefully pry the drawer open. You are doing it while it's shut down, right? That's the best way to do it.

If not, I'm done. LOL
