I have been through many different USB drives, and they are all different. Is there a maximum speed for a USB Flash Drive? Is there any way to test the speed if the company does not give the information? Thanks.

The transfer rate for USB 1.0 is 12mbps, USB 2.0 is 480Mbps. The effective rate reaches at 40MBps or 320Mbps for bulk transfer on a USB 2.0 hard drive with nothing else sharing the bus.

Is this the same for a Flash Drive?

Those are the transfer speeds of the USB bus, transfer speeds from a flash drive typically are not as fast as the controller's transfer rate, especially the older drives that were looking at being used with the USB 1.0.
