The option for fast user switching dis-appeared from the shutdown, logon/logoff menu. How do I replace that option in to the menu of options listed there?

I would first recommend uninstalling your current video drivers as they may have become corrupted. Then install the latest version available from the manufacturer of the video chipset (ATI, nVidia, Intel, etc).

Hi John,

What leads you to think it's the video drivers? I do not have any problems with any video components or anything else, that I've found

Jay.

Most issues that I've found with Fast User Switching, Standby, and Hibernation are caused by a minor corruption in the video drivers (I'd estimate at least 75 to 80% or greater). So I proposed this as a quick fix - if I'm right it'll fix your problem, if I'm wrong, it won't hurt anything and can even help other seemingly unrelated issues.

Yes, there are other causes, but they are less likely than a video driver corruption.
