All,
I've got an HP Pavilion a1767c with Vista Home Premium on it. I can't get it to boot any way. Tried into Safe mode, Last known, with Vista DVD disk. All modes just go right back to the beginning and start over. I think its flashing a blue screen in there but the only one I can actually get it to stop and see what the blue screen actually says is when I try to boot with the DVD and then it gives me the message that the BIOS is not ACPI compliant. I can download an updated bios from HP, but its an exe file and assumes I can get to a place to where I can actually run it. The MOBO is an ASUS P5LP-LE with Phoenix Award BIOS version 5.09. Any ideas on how to get this thing updated ? Thanks.

When you boot, try to get to the Safe Mode menu.
Near the bottom of the listings there will be an option to "Disable automatic restart..."
Select that, then attempt to boot to Windows - the blue screen will come up and stay up then (you'll have to hold the power button down to restart the computer.

Here's a link that describes the info we'll need from the Blue Screen message: http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/forums/top...tml#entry409491
