Start with these 3 Vista tools:

- Go to Start and type in "perfmon /report" (without the quotes) and press Enter. Let the report run, then let us know of any Warnings or Errors that are displayed.

- Go to Start and type in "perfmon" (without the quotes) and press Enter. Click on the Monitoring Tools in the left hand pane, then on the Reliability Monitor. Check the right hand pane for errors that occur on the same day as the shutdowns.

- Go to Start and type in "eventvwr.msc" (without the quotes) and press Enter. Click on the Windows logs in the left hand pane, then on the System log. Check the right hand pane for errors around the time that the system shut down on you. Then do the same thing for the Application log.

The Grid.exe crash seems related to a racing game - but I couldn't nail it down to just one game. This could be caused by a corruption or an incompatibility of a racing game. But it looks like it crashed while interacting with your nVidia drivers.

The nv_disp.inf is a part of your nVidia drivers - so I'd have to suggest removing the current version by uninstalling it from the Programs applet in Control Panel. Then download and install a fresh copy of the latest version available from http://www.nvidia.com

The last error ( ubi3124.tmp.exe ) seems to be a temp file that's functioning as an executable - and that's not a good sign!
I'd suggest locating that file and submit it to http://virusscan.jotti.org to see if it's infected.

Please let us know the results of these suggestions

This is most likely a graphics driver issue. Even though the driver is up to date, it's still possible that it has some corruption. I'd suggest uninstalling the current video driver software from the Programs applet in Control Panel, then installing the latest version available from the nVidia website.

Hi usasma

I got this report in AppCompat.txt under files that could help solve this problem, this happens when i play fallout3. I works fine most of the time, i was told by the person that built my pc that i have a corrupt .DLL file caused by my antivirus i use A-Vast and have been using it for about 5 years and no problems, could he be misleading me? I forgot to ask the full name of the dll file. Is the file named libvorbisfile.dll in this report ok, i have googled it and alot of sites say it it is apyware or a virus.

Thanks
Michael

You can't tell from a filename if a files is infected. At a minimum it takes other symptoms to link it to a problem.
I'd suggest submitting it to http://virusscan.jotti.org and let them scan it for you.

Has the person who built the computer investigated this issue on your system and then has determined that Avast deleted something? Or is this just a guess on his part?

AFAIK, there isn't such a problem with Avast. I do see this file associated with the game Legends of Norrath, and the above filename with a number before the .dll is usually classed as malware.
