Hello and Merry Christmas!

I need some help giving my laptop a Christmas present this year, the present of finally removing this god forsaken virus! I have followed almost every set of instructions on google and ran every spyware / virus removal tool I could find - to no avail. Each application finds either a trojan.vundo or virtumonde entry and can not remove it - my logs will follow.

Hello s8d6m,

Posted Image

Merry Christmas to you too.

This tool is not a toy. If used the wrong way you could trash your computer. Please use only under direction of a Helper. If you decide to do so anyway, please do not blame me or ComboFix.

1. Download this file - combofix.exe
http://download.bleepingcomputer.com/sUBs/ComboFix.exe
http://www.forospyware.com/sUBs/ComboFix.exe
http://subs.geekstogo.com/ComboFix.exe
2. Double click combofix.exe & follow the prompts.
3. When finished, it will produce a log for you. Post that log in your next reply please, along with a new HijackThis log.

Note:
Do not mouseclick combofix's window while it's running. That may cause it to stall.

Thanks,
tea
Please make a donation so I can keep helping people just like you.
Every little bit helps! :)
You can even use your credit card! Thank you!

Hello there,

Not a problem.

Please run HijackThis! and click "Scan." Place checks next to the following entries, if present:

R0 - HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main,Start Page = about:blank
O20 - AppInit_DLLs: dityeu.dll

Close all browsers and other windows except for HijackThis!, and click "Fix checked".

* Using Windows Explorer, locate the following file and delete it if still present:

dityeu.dll

It *should* be in system32

Reboot your computer.

Now please have another run with MBAM and post the report in your reply. How is it running?

Thanks,
tea
Please make a donation so I can keep helping people just like you.
Every little bit helps! :)
You can even use your credit card! Thank you!

Tea, thanks for your quick reply! Here are both logs pasted after I performed the actions you described. Note - I could not find the dll within the folder after removing it from HJT

Hi,

That's okay if you couldn't find it. What I wanted though, was a scan report from Malwarebytes' Antimalware, to see if it was clean now, or still detecting that file in the registry. :)

How is it running please?

K.....more than one way to get this.

* Open notepad - don't use any other text editor than notepad or the script will fail.
Copy/paste the text in the quote box below into notepad:

Registry::
[-HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\CLSID\{6d794cb4-c7cd-4c6f-bfdc-9b77afbdc02c}]

Save this as txtfile CFScript

Then drag the CFScript into ComboFix.exe as you see in the screenshot below.

Posted Image

This will start ComboFix again.

After reboot, (in case it asks to reboot), post the contents of Combofix.txt in your next reply.

Then run MBAM. If it's still there, then do a Windows search for {6d794cb4-c7cd-4c6f-bfdc-9b77afbdc02c} and delete it if it finds it.

Okay....have you run SAS since this started? I'd like for you to run a scan with it in Safe Mode. It is supposed to take that out according to its definitions.

Let me know how you come out. :)

Done

It finds stuff then asks me to remove, I say alright and it asks me to restart.. and the cycle repeats. Adaware and spybot (and malewarebytes) do the same thing (asking me to restart then not fixing it) but here is the SAS log:

Hello,

Try this in Safe Mode :

* Open notepad - don't use any other text editor than notepad or the script will fail.
Copy/paste the text in the quote box below into notepad:

KILLALL::

Registry::
[-HKLM\Software\Classes\CLSID\{6D794CB4-C7CD-4c6f-BFDC-9B77AFBDC02C}]
[-HKCR\CLSID\{6D794CB4-C7CD-4C6F-BFDC-9B77AFBDC02C}]
[-HKCR\CLSID\{6D794CB4-C7CD-4C6F-BFDC-9B77AFBDC02C}]

Save this as txtfile CFScript

Then drag the CFScript into ComboFix.exe as you see in the screenshot below.

Posted Image

This will start ComboFix again.

After reboot, (in case it asks to reboot), post the contents of Combofix.txt in your next reply together with a new HijackThis log.

Thanks,
tea
