hi thegrainsong,

ok good. thanks for the info. we will use hjt now. First please disable Process Guard just in case it interferes with HJT.

HJT:

start HJT, click the "Scan" button. check the items below, close any open windows, then click "Fixed checked"

O2 - BHO: (no name) - {0A446C75-3000-43C6-A873-279149549339} - C:\Windows\system32\rqRLcywu.dll (file missing)

O4 - HKUS\S-1-5-19\..\Run: [siyesurilu] Rundll32.exe "C:\Windows\system32\tasasifu.dll",s (User 'LOCAL SERVICE')

O4 - HKUS\S-1-5-20\..\Run: [siyesurilu] Rundll32.exe "C:\Windows\system32\tasasifu.dll",s (User 'NETWORK SERVICE')

hi,

Sorry but what do you mean by disabling Process Guard?

looks like you had it installed at one time:
Diamond CS Process Guard.

I think they are no longer developing any of there excellent tools.
most likely just a registry left over

All these:
C:\System Volume Information\_restore
are in your system restore folder which we can clean out. Hows it looking on your end now?

How Can I Reduce My Risk to Malware?

hi,

your welcome. happy new year to you also. we have one more stray dll to remove-- left in the registry.
Its not harmful as it is, without the exe.
I will post back with a fix. In the mean time you can read about Viewpoint, its not malware but foistware. Up to you to decide. You can read about it here:

the stray .dll left in the registry is this one in bold

O20 - AppInit_DLLs: C:\PROGRA~1\Google\GOOGLE~1\GOEC62~1.DLL ehgkne.dll avgrsstx.dll

Since Iam not sure how to do a .reg file to remove it and leave the others, we will go after it manually.

ok we will manually delete the item. first you can locate the item in the registry. Go to start>run and type in the window: regedit. Click ok

windows registry opens up. on the left is the key/folders. Click the + signs to drill down to what we are looking for

[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\software\microsoft\windows nt\currentversion\windows]

once in the last \windows folder on the left side, you should see the AppInit DLLs we are looking for over in the right hand side pane.

ok to back up that key: click on the windows folder on the left hand side to highlight it, then right click and select Export. Name it regbackup and save it to your desktop.

once you locate it and back the key up post back and we will continue.

heres a screenshot of what it looks like except yours will look different but you should see: ehgkne.dll

Okay I successfully located and backed up the key.
Should I post it as an attachment or something?

hi,

ok good. navigate back to the key using regedit. this time when you get there, in the right side pane right click on AppInit_DLLs and select modify. the edit string window will open, you will see the dlls. you want to edit out the ehgkne.dll only.
when done click the ok button and close the regedit window. reboot computer and post a new hjt log. hopefully its gone from the hjt log now.

hi,

ok good looks like that did the job. Keep MBAM and always check for updates before scanning. The paid version offers auto updating and real time protection. Two things you can do: Java and System restore;

Java:

Vulnerabilities in versions of Sun Java may be responsible for some malware installs via your browser.

It is important to keep Sun Java up to date and also to remove older versions.

* 1. Uninstall old versions of Sun Java via Add/Remove Programs.
* 2. Click the Remove or Change/Remove button
* 3. Reboot your PC if prompted.

to check if you have the latest version of Java and to download the latest version:

http://www.java.com/en/download/help/testvm.xml?ff3

System Restore, the how and why:

One of the features of Windows ME,XP and Vista is the System Restore option, however if malware infects a computer it is possible that the malware could be backed up in the System Restore folder. Therefore, clearing the restore points is a good idea after malware is removed.

To reset your restore points, please note that you will need to log into your computer with an account which has full administrator access. You will know if the account has administrator access because you will be able to see the System Restore tab. If the tab is missing, you are logged in under a limited account.

(winXP)

1. Turn off System Restore. (deletes old possibly infected restore point)
On the Desktop, right-click My Computer.
Click Properties.
Click the System Restore tab.
Check Turn off System Restore.
Click Apply, and then click OK.

2. Reboot.

3. Turn ON System Restore.(new restore points on a clean system)
On the Desktop, right-click My Computer.
Click Properties.
Click the System Restore tab.
UN-Check *Turn off System Restore*.
Click Apply, and then click OK, then reboot

if all is good, here are some tips for you:

Reducing Your Risk To Malware:
The Short Version:

1) Keep your OS,(Windows) browser (IE, FireFox) and other Software up to date to "patch" vulnerabilities. Always install Service Packs.

2) Know what you are installing to your computer. Alot of software can come bundled with unwanted add-ons.You may be installing more than you think.

3) Install and keep them all updated: one antivirus and two or three anti-malware applications. If not updated they will soon be worthless.

4) Refrain from clicking on links or attachments you receive via E-Mail, IM, Chat Rooms or Social Sites, no matter how tempting or legitimate the message.

5) Don't click on ads/pop ups or offers from websites requesting that you need to install software to your computer.

6) Don't click on offers to "scan" your computer. Install ActiveX Objects with care. Do you trust the website?

7) Set up and use limited accounts for everyday use, rather than administrator accounts. Limited accounts can help prevent *malware from installing.*

8) Install a third party software firewall.

9) Consider using an alternate browser and E-mail client. Internet Explorer and OutLook Express are popular targets for malicious code because they are widely used. See also: Hardening or Securing Internet Explorer.

10) If your habits include: warez, cracks etc or you install files via p2p networks then you are much more likely to encounter malicious code. Do you trust the source? Do you really need another malware source?

A longer version in link below.

Happy Safe Surfing.
