I've to repair my XP pro after a virus attack. I use a dual boot(XP plus suse 10.3). The problem is I can't boot from the XP CD. I've two XP CDs written on two different brands of CD.

I've found that:

in Linux, NO XP Cds contents are shown; suse shows them as blank CDs

Suse combo drive works fine with other DVDs and data CDs

XP Cds work fine with another computer running windows

So I hope that the combo drive as well as the XP Cds are fine

Then why the machine is not getting booted from the CD

Anticipating help from the experts

Thanks in advance

If the CDs work on another system, they are not at fault.

If the drive works fine from your other O/S, then it is not at fault.

Are the BIOS boot options for XP changed to reflect the optical drive as the first boot device?

Are there any error messages (exact wording, please)?

Step-by-step...tell us what happens when you try to boot the system with an XP CD in the drive.
