Startup problems

Every time that i log into windows it becomes unresponsive and i cant do anything is there anything i can do in safe mode? I am running xp sp3 on a dell laptop

I have no clue what that means.

Does the system freeze? Does it reboot? Any error messages? At what point...does this "unresponsiveness" begin? Do you get to the desktop?

Have you tried logging in via safe mode?

How long has this problem been going on?

Have you tried using System Restore?

Sry im on an itouch its hard to type i dont know wat to try in safe mode. I get my desktop and all that but i cant click anything and windows installer comes up and just says its installing
