Why do you want to downgrade ?

Actually you can downgrade from xp to 2000 by following these steps below but you have to own also Windows 2000 CD:

Delete the XP by formatting the partition where the windows xp is.

Then install Windows 2000 normally.

Hope it helps

I'm not sure if we've understood your question properly squidfella. If you're asking will the Win2000 setup program accept an XP CD as qualifying media, then I suspect it may not. I haven't tried it myself, and Deadly Elegance may have tried and found it works, but if not, you may need to borrow a Win98 CD to show the installer, as an Upgrade installer is usually specifically coded to look only for the prior qualifying versions of Windows. (Obviously it can't be coded at the time for any future downgrade path from an unknown OS.)
