I was trying to burn a DVD on my laptop. It finished the burning and ejected the CD. I went to My Computer and tried to open my Drive for the CD and my system froze up. I held my power button for 10 seconds and turned it off. Then when I got back on I went to My Computer and my CD-ROM drive is not there. I checked my computer management and it shows a Yellow Apostrophe next to it. I uninstalled my drivers and then rebooted. It then said "Found New Hardware" and etc. Well it never told me that it was finished. My CD-ROM drive is still missing. I So snooped through my event viewer and found this thing

Well...you say that the burn program ejected the CD...and you then went to My Computer to open your drive for the CD?

You may have damaged the drivers files for the optical drive...just a guess, it could be just about anything.

What I would do: In Device Manager, uninstall the drive if it reflects installed status. Then I would use the following to remove all unnecessary drivers reflected. I would then reboot and see what happens.

How to uninstall hidden devices, drivers, and services - Tech-Recipes.com - http://www.tech-recipes.com/windows_instal...on_tips504.html

If it still doesn't properly reflect/work, I would then try removal of upper/lower filters in the registry, following the guidance provided by Microsoft:

Upper and Lower Filters. CD-ROM 314060 - http://support.microsoft.com/kb/314060

Well I forgot to mention that I did put the CD back in. Then I tried to open the drive.

And my Computer has been EXTREMELY slow and I ran numerous Anti-Malware scans and nothing is being picked up. Ever since I tried the new version of NERO it has been slow. I tried to Uninstall it with RevoUninstaller the uninstall failed and Revouninstaller Removed the 'Left Over' Files.

The error message mentions a controller error on the IDE channel that the CD is on. You may have to reinstall your motherboard/chipset drivers. If that doesn't fix it, then I'd suspect a problem with the drive or the motherboard.
My browser caused a flood of traffic, sio my IP address was banned. Hope to fix it soon. Will get back to posting as soon as Im able.

Is the link for my Drivers. Which one of those would I install? The Graphics? It had the word CHIPSET on it. I may not have a chipset driver.

Can you tell us what steps you took to reach a solution? It's been awhile, so it would not seem that anything posted previously was helpful.

Thanks.

I deleted the UPERFILTER and the LOWERFILTER in the registry that was telling the driver to load INCD from Nero which does not exist anymore.
