Hey guys,

I am working on a friend's computer, and it 's a Dell Inspiron 1300 laptop. According to Dell's website, it came installed with 512 MB of ram, but, someone examined the service tag underneath the laptop, and it only came installed with 256 of ram. Anyway, I am going to upgrade it for her, and was wanting to know if I needed to order it directly from Dell, or, if I could order it from an aftermarket website.

Thanks.

Jeremy

Hi

Go to http://www.crucial.com where you will find an online tool that will scan the PC and let you know how much ram is fitted and what type it is. It will also show you the most suitable upgrade. Bear in mind that if there are no free memory slots availabe you may need to remove the existing RAM to fit a larger capacity module.
