Hello sonic and welcome to the BC forums. After reviewing your log I see a few items that require our attention. Please print these directions and then proceed with the following steps in order.

Step #1

Download Cwshredder.exe and save it to a folder of its own. Start the program and click on the Check for Update button. If an update is available then download and install it. Close the program (do not run it yet).

Download CCleaner and install it but do not run it yet.

Now we need to remove a service.

Part 1
  • Click Start>Run, type services.msc into the Open editbox and click the Ok button.
  • Locate the Remote Procedure Call (RPC) Helper service and click the Stop button.
  • In the Startup type dropdown select Disabled.
  • Click the Apply button and then the Ok button.
  • Close the Services window
Part 2
  • Click Start>Run, type cmd into the Open editbox and click the Ok button.
  • Copy/paste the line below into the Command Prompt window and press the Enter key:
    • sc delete 11Fßä#·ºÄÖ`I
  • Close the Command Prompt window
Step #2

Restart in Safe Mode
  • Restart the computer.
  • As soon as the BIOS is loaded begin tapping the F8 key until the boot menu appears.
  • Use the arrow keys to select the Safe Mode menu item.
  • Press the Enter key.
Step #3

Start HijackThis and click the Scan button to perform a scan. Look for the following items and click in the checkbox in front of each item to select it:R1 - HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main,Search Bar = res://C:\WINDOWS\cquum.dll/sp.html#60392
R1 - HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main,Search Page = res://C:\WINDOWS\cquum.dll/sp.html#60392
R1 - HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main,Default_Page_URL = about:blank
R1 - HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main,Default_Search_URL = res://C:\WINDOWS\cquum.dll/sp.html#60392
R1 - HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main,Search Bar = res://C:\WINDOWS\cquum.dll/sp.html#60392
R1 - HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main,Search Page = res://C:\WINDOWS\cquum.dll/sp.html#60392
R1 - HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Search,SearchAssistant = res://C:\WINDOWS\cquum.dll/sp.html#60392
R0 - HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Search,SearchAssistant = res://C:\WINDOWS\cquum.dll/sp.html#60392
R3 - Default URLSearchHook is missing
O2 - BHO: Class - {37178BCE-7C24-458A-830E-95595C72A5D9} - C:\WINDOWS\iejn.dll
O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [MSZTCE] C:\WINDOWS\System32\MSZTCE.EXE
O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [Popup Defence Updater] regsvr32 /s C:\WINDOWS\System32\pdfupd.dll
O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [oadrireweykuz] C:\WINDOWS\System32\dxdnaqpr.exe
O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [PCShield] regsvr32 /s "C:\WINDOWS\System32\sfg_6d10.dll"
O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [javalw.exe] C:\WINDOWS\system32\javalw.exe
O4 - HKCU\..\Run: [PCShield] regsvr32 /s "C:\WINDOWS\System32\sfg_6d10.dll"
O9 - Extra button: (no name) - {CD67F990-D8E9-11d2-98FE-00C0F0318AFE} - (no file)
O16 - DPF: {88D758A3-D33B-45FD-91E3-67749B4057FA} - http://dm.screensavers.com/dm/installers/si/1/sinstaller.cab

Now close ALL open windows except HijackThis and click the Fix Checked button to finish the repair.

Step #4

We need to make sure all hidden files are showing so please:
  • Click Start.
  • Open My Computer.
  • Select the Tools menu and click Folder Options.
  • Select the View tab.
  • Under the Hidden files and folders heading select Show hidden files and folders.
  • Uncheck the Hide file extensions for known types option.
  • Uncheck the Hide protected operating system files (recommended) option.
  • Click Yes to confirm.
  • Click OK.
Find the following files/folders and delete them (don't worry if they are already gone):C:\WINDOWS\cquum.dll
C:\WINDOWS\iejn.dll
C:\WINDOWS\System32\MSZTCE.EXE
C:\WINDOWS\System32\pdfupd.dll
C:\WINDOWS\System32\dxdnaqpr.exe
C:\WINDOWS\System32\sfg_6d10.dll
C:\WINDOWS\system32\javalw.exe
C:\WINDOWS\iejn.exe

Step #5

Start CCleaner and click on the Run Cleaner button in the lower right-hand corner. When it is finished close CCleaner.

Step #6

Run CWShredder
  • Double-click on CWShredder.exe.
  • Click "Fix ->" and click "OK" at the prompt.
  • CWShredder will scan and clean your system of CWS files.
  • Click "Next->" and then "Exit".
Step #7

Reboot normally and run at least 2 of the following on-line virus scans:Trend Micro Housecall
BitDefender On-Line Virus Scan
Panda ActiveScan
eTrust Antivirus Web Scanner
Make sure that you choose "fix" or "clean".

Step #8

AdAware SE

Download, install, update, configure and run a scan with Ad-aware SE:
  • Download and Install AdAware SE Personal, keeping the default options. However, some of the settings will need to be changed before your first scan.
  • Close ALL windows except Ad-Aware SE.
  • Click on the‘world’ icon at the top right of the Ad-Aware SE window and let AdAware SE update the reference list for the adware and malware.
  • Once the update is finished click on the ‘Gear’ icon (second from the left at the top of the window) to access the preferences/settings window:
    • In the ‘General’ window make sure the following are selected in green:
      • Under Safety:
        • Automatically save log-file
      • Automatically quarantine objects prior to removal
      • Safe Mode (always request confirmation)
    • Under Definitions:
      • Prompt to update outdated definitions - set the number of days
  • Click on the ‘Scanning’ button on the left and select in green:
    • Under Driver, Folders & Files:
      • Scan Within Archives
    • Under Select drives & folders to scan:
      • choose all hard drives
    • Under Memory & Registry: all green
      • Scan Active Processes
      • Scan Registry
      • Deep Scan Registry
      • Scan my IE favorites for banned URL’s
      • Scan my Hosts file
  • Click on the ‘Advanced’ button on the left and select in green:
    • Under Shell Integration:
      • Move deleted files to recycle bin
    • Under Logfile Detail Level: all green
      • include addtional object information
      • DESELECT - include negligible objects information
      • include environment information
    • Under Alternate Data Streams:
      • Don't log streams smaller than 0 bytes
      • Don't log ADS with the following names: CA_INOCULATEIT
  • Click the ‘Tweak’ button and select in green:
    • Under ‘Scanning Engine’:
      • Unload recognized processes during scanning
      • Scan registry for all users instead of current user only
    • Under ‘Cleaning Engine’:
      • Let Windows remove files in use at next reboot
    • Under Log Files:
      • Include basic Ad-aware SE settings in logfile
      • Include additional Ad-aware SE settings in logfile
      • Please do not check: Include Module list in logfile
  • Click on ‘Proceed’ to save the settings.
  • Click ‘Start’
  • Choose 'Perform Full System Scan'
  • DESELECT "Search for negligible risk entries", as negligible risk entries (MRU's) are not considered to be a threat.
  • Click ‘Next’ and Ad-Aware SE will scan your hard drive(s) with the options you have selected and clean automatically.
  • If Ad-Aware SE finds bad entries, you will receive a list of what it found in the window
  • Save the log file when it asks and then click ‘Finish’
  • REBOOT to complete the removal of what Ad-Aware SE found.
Step #9

OK. Reboot your computer normally, start HijackThis and perform a new scan. Use the Add Reply button to post your new log file back here along with details of any problems you encountered performing the above steps and I will review it when it comes in.

hi, thanks for your help but unfortunatly i still seem to have the same problem, i've done all the tasks ok though i could'nt delete the file iejn.exe but i think it may of got deleted when i ran one of the on-line virus scans, it actually deleted a few .exe files, i don't know if that was ok, also when i copy/pasted sc delete 11Fßä#·ºÄÖ`I in the command promt window i got the message [sc] openservice failed 1060: the specified service does not excist as an installed service, so i don't know if that's one of the problems, anyway i've done all the other tasks and done another log, please could you check it again for me, thanks again.

Hi sonic. Yup, you are still infected. Let's go through the steps again.

Step #1

Download and install ewido security suite. Update the program and then close it. Do not run it yet.

Look for the following items and click in the checkbox in front of each item to select it:R1 - HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main,Search Bar = res://C:\WINDOWS\awyfr.dll/sp.html#37049
R1 - HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main,Search Page = res://C:\WINDOWS\awyfr.dll/sp.html#37049
R1 - HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main,Default_Page_URL = about:blank
R1 - HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main,Default_Search_URL = res://C:\WINDOWS\awyfr.dll/sp.html#37049
R1 - HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main,Search Bar = res://C:\WINDOWS\awyfr.dll/sp.html#37049
R1 - HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main,Search Page = res://C:\WINDOWS\awyfr.dll/sp.html#37049
R1 - HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Search,SearchAssistant = res://C:\WINDOWS\awyfr.dll/sp.html#37049
R0 - HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Search,SearchAssistant = res://C:\WINDOWS\awyfr.dll/sp.html#37049
R3 - Default URLSearchHook is missing
O2 - BHO: Class - {E972C70D-F3F5-C38D-9719-F265704EEF8A} - C:\WINDOWS\mfcir.dll
O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [iexplore.exe] C:\Program Files\Internet Explorer\iexplore.exe
O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [ntgt32.exe] C:\WINDOWS\ntgt32.exe
O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [d3mj32.exe] C:\WINDOWS\system32\d3mj32.exe
O4 - HKLM\..\RunOnce: [mfckg.exe] C:\WINDOWS\mfckg.exe

Now close ALL open windows except HijackThis and click the Fix Checked button to finish the repair.

Step #4

We need to make sure all hidden files are showing so please:
  • Click Start.
  • Open My Computer.
  • Select the Tools menu and click Folder Options.
  • Select the View tab.
  • Under the Hidden files and folders heading select Show hidden files and folders.
  • Uncheck the Hide file extensions for known types option.
  • Uncheck the Hide protected operating system files (recommended) option.
  • Click Yes to confirm.
  • Click OK.
Find the following files/folders and delete them (don't worry if they are already gone):C:\WINDOWS\awyfr.dll
C:\WINDOWS\mfcir.dll
C:\WINDOWS\ntgt32.exe
C:\WINDOWS\system32\d3mj32.exe
C:\WINDOWS\mfckg.exe
C:\WINDOWS\iejn.exe

Step #5

Start CCleaner and click on the Run Cleaner button in the lower right-hand corner. When it is finished close CCleaner.

Step #6

Run CWShredder
  • Double-click on CWShredder.exe.
  • Click "Fix ->" and click "OK" at the prompt.
  • CWShredder will scan and clean your system of CWS files.
  • Click "Next->" and then "Exit".
Step #7

Start ewido and click on the Scanner button. On the Scanner page click on My Computer and then click the Start button to begin the scan. Let it run to completion and fix anything that it finds.

Step #8

Reboot normally and run at least 2 of the following on-line virus scans:Trend Micro Housecall
BitDefender On-Line Virus Scan
Panda ActiveScan
eTrust Antivirus Web Scanner
Make sure that you choose "fix" or "clean".

Step #9

AdAware SE
  • Close ALL windows and start Ad-Aware SE.
  • Click on the‘world’ icon at the top right of the Ad-Aware SE window and let AdAware SE update the reference list for the adware and malware.
  • Once the update is finished click on the ‘Gear’ icon (second from the left at the top of the window) to access the preferences/settings window:
    • In the ‘General’ window make sure the following are selected in green:
      • Under Safety:
        • Automatically save log-file
      • Automatically quarantine objects prior to removal
      • Safe Mode (always request confirmation)
    • Under Definitions:
      • Prompt to update outdated definitions - set the number of days
  • Click on the ‘Scanning’ button on the left and select in green:
    • Under Driver, Folders & Files:
      • Scan Within Archives
    • Under Select drives & folders to scan:
      • choose all hard drives
    • Under Memory & Registry: all green
      • Scan Active Processes
      • Scan Registry
      • Deep Scan Registry
      • Scan my IE favorites for banned URL’s
      • Scan my Hosts file
  • Click on the ‘Advanced’ button on the left and select in green:

Step #10

OK. Reboot your computer normally, start HijackThis and perform a new scan. Use the Add Reply button to post your new log file back here along with details of any problems you encountered performing the above steps and I will review it when it comes in.

Hi sonic. Are you trying to type the command in? It cannot be typed because the characters cannot be entered into the keyboard. The command needs to be copied and pasted into the command prompt window, otherwise it will not work.

Let me know if this is a problem because you are still infected and so we need to do this again.

Cheers.

Hi sonic. Ok, try this.

Download About:Buster.zip and unzip it to its own directory. Start AboutBuster and click the Ok button. Now click the Update button and then the Check for Update button. If an update is available click the Download Update button.

Now run AboutBuster and save the logs:
  • Browse to where you saved AboutBuster and run AboutBuster.exe.
  • Click "OK" at the directions Read: Important! prompt.
  • Click the Update button to check for updates and install any that are available.
  • Click "Start" and then "OK" to allow AboutBuster to scan for Alternate Data Streams.
  • Click "Yes" at the About:Buster prompt to allow it to shutdown explorer.exe.
  • Please wait while AboutBuster scans your computer for malicious files. If it asks if you would like to do a second pass, allow it to do so.
  • When it has finished, click "Save Log...". Make sure you save it as I will need a copy of it.
  • Click "Exit" and "Exit" again to exit AboutBuster.
OK. Reboot your computer normally, start HijackThis and perform a new scan. Use the Add Reply button to post your new log file and the AboutBuster log file back here along with details of any problems you encountered performing the above steps and I will review it when it comes in.

Hi sonic. Unfortunately, reinstalling IE wouldn't help in this instance. The problem is not in IE but in the infection. That last run took out a good portion of it so let's clean up the rest.

Please print these directions and then proceed with the following steps in order.

Step #1

Download and install Registrar Lite
  • Start RegLite
  • Navigate to the registry key below: (You can copy/paste the bold text into the address bar).
    • HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\
  • In the right-hand pane locate the entry for 11Fßä#·ºÄÖ`I and right-click on it. Choose Delete from the popup menu.
  • Now navigate to:HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Enum\Root\
  • In the right-hand pane locate the entry for LEGACY_ 11Fßä#·ºÄÖ`I and right-click on it. Choose Delete from the popup menu.
  • If the above Legacy_ isn't visable, look for a LEGACY_ key with a long list of random letters and numbers that is similar. This key will contain the subkey with the bad service name. Right-click on that key and delete it.
  • Repeat the above steps for all other ControlSets (i.e. ControlSet001, ControlSet002 etc).
  • Exit RegLite.
Note: If you have trouble deleting a key. Click once on the key name to highlight it and click on the Security menu option and then the Edit Permissions item. Then Uncheck Allow inheritible permissions, click on Everyone in the uppder box and put a checkmark in Full control in the lower box. Click the Apply button and then the Ok button and attempt to delete the key again.

Look for the following items and click in the checkbox in front of each item to select it:R1 - HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main,Search Bar = res://C:\WINDOWS\system32\muleo.dll/sp.html#60392
R1 - HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main,Search Page = res://C:\WINDOWS\system32\muleo.dll/sp.html#60392
R1 - HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main,Default_Page_URL = about:blank
R1 - HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main,Default_Search_URL = res://C:\WINDOWS\system32\muleo.dll/sp.html#60392
R1 - HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main,Search Bar = res://C:\WINDOWS\system32\muleo.dll/sp.html#60392
R1 - HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main,Search Page = res://C:\WINDOWS\system32\muleo.dll/sp.html#60392
R1 - HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Search,SearchAssistant = res://C:\WINDOWS\system32\muleo.dll/sp.html#60392
R0 - HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Search,SearchAssistant = res://C:\WINDOWS\system32\muleo.dll/sp.html#60392
R3 - Default URLSearchHook is missing
O2 - BHO: Class - {A66A7703-9E5D-D32F-B86A-2B0EE436B436} - C:\WINDOWS\msuv.dll
O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [ntco.exe] C:\WINDOWS\ntco.exe
O4 - HKLM\..\RunOnce: [mswt32.exe] C:\WINDOWS\mswt32.exe
O4 - HKLM\..\RunOnce: [sysmp32.exe] C:\WINDOWS\system32\sysmp32.exe
O4 - HKLM\..\RunOnce: [appgv.exe] C:\WINDOWS\system32\appgv.exe
O4 - HKLM\..\RunOnce: [addod.exe] C:\WINDOWS\system32\addod.exe
O4 - HKLM\..\RunOnce: [sysmy.exe] C:\WINDOWS\system32\sysmy.exe
O4 - HKLM\..\RunOnce: [appov32.exe] C:\WINDOWS\system32\appov32.exe
O4 - HKLM\..\RunOnce: [winah32.exe] C:\WINDOWS\system32\winah32.exe

O4 - HKLM\..\RunOnce: [javavk32.exe] C:\WINDOWS\system32\javavk32.exe
O4 - HKLM\..\RunOnce: [d3wt32.exe] C:\WINDOWS\system32\d3wt32.exe
O4 - HKLM\..\RunOnce: [javajr.exe] C:\WINDOWS\javajr.exe

Now close ALL open windows except HijackThis and click the Fix Checked button to finish the repair.

Step #4

We need to make sure all hidden files are showing so please:
  • Click Start.
  • Open My Computer.
  • Select the Tools menu and click Folder Options.
  • Select the View tab.
  • Under the Hidden files and folders heading select Show hidden files and folders.
  • Uncheck the Hide file extensions for known types option.
  • Uncheck the Hide protected operating system files (recommended) option.
  • Click Yes to confirm.
  • Click OK.
Find the following files/folders and delete them (don't worry if they are already gone):C:\WINDOWS\msuv.dll
C:\WINDOWS\ntco.exe
C:\WINDOWS\mswt32.exe
C:\WINDOWS\apile32.exe
C:\WINDOWS\javajr.exe
C:\WINDOWS\system32\muleo.dll
C:\WINDOWS\system32\sysmp32.exe
C:\WINDOWS\system32\appgv.exe
C:\WINDOWS\system32\addod.exe
C:\WINDOWS\system32\sysmy.exe
C:\WINDOWS\system32\appov32.exe
C:\WINDOWS\system32\winah32.exe
C:\WINDOWS\system32\javavk32.exe
C:\WINDOWS\system32\d3wt32.exe

Hi sonic. What happened when you used RegLite to remove the service? It is still showing in the log. Were you able to delete those registry keys or did you get an error message of some sort?

Let's run a couple of scans to see if there is anything that might not be showing up in the log.

Download PFind.zip and unzip the contents to its own permanent folder.

Important! Reboot in SAFE MODE !!

Start in Safe Mode Using the F8 method:
  • Restart the computer in Safe Mode.
  • As soon as the BIOS is loaded begin tapping the F8 key until the Advanced Options menu appears.
  • Use the arrow keys to select the Safe Mode menu item.
  • Press the Enter key.
Locate the pfind.bat file and double-click it to run it. It will start scanning your computer and could take a little while so be patient. When the DOS window closes, reboot back to normal mode.

After you have rebooted start HijackThis and follow these steps:
  • Click on Config button
  • Click on the Misc Tools button
  • Check the checkbox for List minor sections (full)
  • Check the checkbox for List empty sections (complete)
  • Click on the Generate StartupList Log button
  • Click the Yes button to create the list
Post the contents of C:\pfind.txt and the information from the StartupList back here and I will review it when it comes in.

OT
I do not respond to PM's requesting help. That's what the forums are here for. Please use them so that others may benefit from your questions and the responses you receive.

hi OT, yeah i noticed they were back which i thought was strange cause i was able to delete them both meaning 11Fßä#·ºÄÖ`I and LEGACY_ 11Fßä#·ºÄÖ`I, mind you i was'nt sure what you mean't by "Repeat the above steps for all other ControlSets (i.e. ControlSet001, ControlSet002 etc)." so i never got to do that, anyway here's the logs as you asked, thanks

Hi sonic. Ok, let's delete some files.

Download Pocket Killbox and unzip it to your desktop.

Double-click on KillBox.exe to launch the program.
  • Highlight the lines below and press the Ctrl key and the C key at the same time to copy them to the clipboard:
    • C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM32\in10b6.dll
      C:\WINDOWS\ipub32.exe
      C:\WINDOWS\system32\msoh.exe
      C:\WINDOWS\system32\sdkgd.exe
      C:\WINDOWS\addwl.exe
      C:\WINDOWS\system32\addlo32.exe
      C:\WINDOWS\sysll.exe
      C:\WINDOWS\system32\addlq32.exe
      C:\WINDOWS\addoh.exe
      C:\WINDOWS\system32\netau.exe
      C:\WINDOWS\ieli.exe
      C:\WINDOWS\system32\javang.exe
      C:\WINDOWS\system32\crkj32.exe
      C:\WINDOWS\ntyo32.exe
      C:\WINDOWS\d3sx32.exe
      C:\WINDOWS\ntcs32.exe

  • Now go to the Killbox application and click on the File menu and then the Paste from Clipboard menu item. In the Full Path of File to Delete box you should see the first file. If you dropdown that box you should see the rest of them. Make sure that they are all there.
  • Click on the Delete on Reboot option and then click on the red circle with a white 'X' in to to delete the files. Killbox will tell you that all listed files will be deleted on next reboot, click YES. When it asks if you would like to Reboot now, click YES. If you get a "PendingFileRenameOperations Registry Data has been Removed by External Process!" message then just restart manually.
Your system will reboot now.

Start HijackThis and perform a new scan. Use the Add Reply button to post your new log file back here along with details of any problems you encountered performing the above steps and I will review it when it comes in.
