2.66GHz eMachine with XP Home and SP3 used to run videos fine when I had cablemodem. Went bck to dial up for two years. Installed Kaspersky Security after getting and cleaning a trojan with SmitFraudFix and SuperAntiSpywrare. Now returned to cable modem and my PC is slower than it should be and than it used to be. Won't play a movie clip and connects at about half the speed my wireless laptop connects to cable. I cleaned, defragmented, ran scans, ran SmitFraud and SuperAntiSpyWare and CCCleaner. Took PC to a repair shop and they found nothing causing it to run slow but they installed more RAM to be 760 Mb and changed the hard drive they said was dying.
What more can I do to find what is causing the slowness?
If what I need to do isn't easy I need detailed instruction how to do it. I'm no skilled technician but have used computers for over 15 yrs.
P.S. I also run SpyBot S&D and have run a registry scan. . .nothing stands out as trouble.
