I'm TRYING to buy a game console for my younger brother who is 13 -- he already has the older version of Xbox - - loves his Halo stuff...
So I was thinking of getting him the new Xbox, OR the new PS2.....
I can't make up my mind...My brother seems to want both but what would be a better system? And Why?!

confused.

XBOX all the way.

Why? Because it's better, that's why.

But in all seriousness, you'll probably never find an answer as to which console is better because everybody has their own opinions. Personally, I prefer XBOX, but you will find a number of people that prefer PS2. If your brother likes XBOX, get him the new one when it comes out

PS2,

I would buy this because very light, PS2 also has a lot of games and the best games including GTA series and more features on Madden games.

XB has live, which is broadband only and relatively cheap (yeah yeah yeah, PS2 has online too, but playing on dialup servers isn't very fun )

And like most situations, size doesn't matter :flowers:

Thanks guys for replying...I think i'll get him the xbox - - a friend of mine told me the game "Fable" was pretty cool so i'll grab that for him too.

How much is Xbox Online by the way??? I've played online but only the through
a "tweaked" xbox system - - - ummm so ya how much is the legal version?

I'm guessing it's expensive, which would suck.

P.s: What was with that last comment (phantasmagoria) about size?

anyway.....

I thought the previous post was about XBOX being so big and PS2 being small and able to fit into tight areas; I may have been mistaken. Point made though

Live is either $7 a month or $50 annually, and you can buy a year's service for $50 instead of having Live charge your credit card. Fable is a pretty good game, but I think it is over-rated. It's a pretty short and relatively easy game. Nonetheless, I think it is worth it and I enjoy playing it.

You must not of looked closely enough Phantasmagoria. Trust me, although it was not the complete wording. It was trailed off, so to speak. The implications were still there.

What you posted could be taken eiether way. Borderline. What technical1 posted, was over the line.

Lets just stick to the subject at hand. Shall we. :flowers:

Either would be a great gift for your bother. One point to bear in mind, however, is that having a second platform (PS2) would greatly expand the games he could play, since Sony has a very large and established base.
If it is on-line play that is the critical issue, then using a computer is the only way to go.
Cheers,
John

Totally true statement, but you have to admit, XBOX's game variety has increased significantly.

(In case you guys can't tell, I'm a strong supporter of Microsoft and its products - let the flaming begin )

well i do own an Xbox and very happy with that and some of my friend have an Xbox and PS2 but they say that if a fire happened in the home they would grab their Xbox rather than their PS2, so i say get an XBOX they do so much more and if you get another Xbox you could get that one chiped and use the other for Xbox Live.
