Okay, the last topic I made was closed because I guess it seemed like I was trying to do something illegal.

I'm using Windows XP.

My computer is rubbish thanks to malware. I'm planning on formatting. The system BIOS has a password set that I cannot remember. I'm not asking how to bypass it or 'hack' it or anything. Before I even try I want to know whether or not this will prevent me from formatting.

Again, I'm not asking anyone to crack the password, or provide me with the means to do it myself. This is a legitimate question from an honest person.

Will my password protected system BIOS prevent me from formatting my hard drive?

No, unless the hdd type was set on a fixed type rather then autodetect and you have changed hdd's.
