Hello, This is my first post and in need of help

I am running Windows XP.

When I am searching something in google and click on one of the results I get redirected to other websites like info.com.

I ran spybot search and destroy, adaware 2008, avast home edition, malware bytes, and cc cleaner. I also have comodo firewall. Also adaware does not update anymore.

The problem has not gone away yet.

Also some websites say I have a trojan and cant access their website

I would appriciate any help.

This is the result when I ran Hijack this

Hello!
My name is Sam and I will be helping you.

In order to see what's going on with your computer I may ask for you to post various logs from the tools that we will use to resolve your issue. Please also share with me any information about how your computer is reacting and behaving each step of the way as we work through this process.

Are you using a router with this computer?

Please download random's system information tool (RSIT) and save it to your desktop.
  • Double click on RSIT.exe to run it.
  • Click Continue at the disclaimer screen.
  • Once it has finished, two logs will open. Please post the contents of both log.txt (<<will be maximized) and info.txt (<<will be minimized)

Posted Image If I have helped you in any way, please consider a donation to help me continue the fight against malware.

Failing to respond back to the person that is giving up their own time to help you not only is insensitive and disrespectful, but it guarantees that you will never receive help from me again. Please thank your helpers and there will always be help here when you need it!

Please download the OTMoveIt3 by OldTimer.
  • Save it to your desktop.
  • Please click OTMoveIt3 and then click >> run.
  • Copy the lines in the codebox below to the clipboard by highlighting ALL of them and pressing CTRL + C (or, after highlighting, right-click and choose Copy):

    [EmptyTemp]
    [Reboot]
  • Return to OTMoveIt3, right click in the "Paste Instructions for items to be Moved" window (under the yellow bar) and choose Paste.
  • Click the red Moveit! button.
  • Copy everything in the Results window (under the green bar) to the clipboard by highlighting ALL of them and pressing CTRL + C (or, after highlighting, right-click and choose copy), and paste it in your next reply.
  • Close OTMoveIt3
Note: If an item cannot be moved immediately you may be asked to reboot the machine to finish the move process. If you are asked to reboot the machine choose Yes. In this case, after the reboot, open Notepad (Start->All Programs->Accessories->Notepad), click File->Open, in the File Name box enter *.log and press the Enter key, navigate to the C:\_OTMoveIt\MovedFiles folder, and open the newest .log file present, and copy/paste the contents of that document back here in your next post.

I see you have Malwarebytes installed. I need you to update the definitions and then run a new scan
  • Open Malwarebytes and select the Update tab.
  • Click on the Check for Updates button and allow the program to download the latest updates.
  • Once you have the latest updates, select the Scanner tab.
  • Select "Perform quick scan" and click the Scan button.
  • If asked to select the drives to scan, leave all the drives selected and click on the Start Scan button.
  • The scan will begin and "Scan in progress" will show at the top. It may take some time to complete so please be patient.
  • When the scan is finished, a message box will say "The scan completed successfully. Click 'Show Results' to display all objects found".
  • Click OK to close the message box and continue with the removal process.
  • Back at the main Scanner screen, click on the Show Results button to see a list of any malware that was found.
  • Make sure that everything is checked, and click Remove Selected.
  • When removal is completed, a log report will open in Notepad and you may be prompted to restart your computer. (see Note below)
  • The log is automatically saved and can be viewed by clicking the Logs tab in MBAM.
  • Copy and paste the contents of that report in your next reply and exit MBAM.
Note: If MBAM encounters a file that is difficult to remove, you will be presented with 1 of 2 prompts. Click OK to either and let MBAM proceed with the disinfection process. If asked to restart the computer, please do so immediately. Failure to reboot will prevent MBAM from removing all the malware.

Also post a new log from RSIT.

Hello

I ran spybot s&d and it found the Zlob.DNS changer. I keep deleting it but it keeps reappearing. I think it is causing my browser to redirect me. Is their anyway I can remove it for good.

Thanks

Hello hemjin26,

I have merged your latest topic in the Am I Infected forum here to your topic in the HiJack This forum.

It is very important that you follow the instructions of your helper. Just because the symptoms are gone doesn't mean that the infection is gone. If the disinfection process is stopped before completion, it will rear up its ugly head again worse than before.

Additionally, you should NOT make changes to your computer[/color][/b] (install/uninstall programs, use special fix tools, delete files, edit the registry, etc) unless advised by a HJT Team member, nor should you ask for help elsewhere. Doing so can result in system changes which may not show in your logs. Any modifications you make on your own can confuse things and make the disinfection process more difficult.

Please stay with this topic until Buckeye_Sam declares you clean.

Back to you Buckeye_Sam.

I tried running Malwarebytes but it was not loading properly, so I uninstalled it and downloaded it from download.com. It does not install on my computer. I get a error message saying DLL/OCX:RegSVR32 failed with exit code 0x5.

That's vital information to share.

Please download ComboFix from one of these locations:

Link 1
Link 2
Link 3

Important!
You should NOT use Combofix unless you have been instructed to do so by a Malware Removal Expert.
It is intended by its creator to be used under the guidance and supervision of an Malware Removal Expert, not for private use.
Using this tool incorrectly could lead to disastrous problems with your operating system such as preventing it from ever starting again.

Make sure that you save ComboFix.exe to your Desktop
  • Disable your AntiVirus and AntiSpyware applications, usually via a right click on the System Tray icon. They may otherwise interfere with our tools

  • Double click on ComboFix.exe & follow the prompts.

  • As part of it's process, ComboFix will check to see if the Microsoft Windows Recovery Console is installed. With malware infections being as they are today, it's strongly recommended to have this pre-installed on your machine before doing any malware removal. It will allow you to boot up into a special recovery/repair mode that will allow us to more easily help you should your computer have a problem after an attempted removal of malware.

  • Follow the prompts to allow ComboFix to download and install the Microsoft Windows Recovery Console, and when prompted, agree to the End-User License Agreement to install the Microsoft Windows Recovery Console.
**Please note: If the Microsoft Windows Recovery Console is already installed, ComboFix will continue it's malware removal procedures.

Once the Microsoft Windows Recovery Console is installed using ComboFix, you should see the following message:

Click on Yes, to continue scanning for malware.

When finished, it shall produce a log for you. Please include the C:\ComboFix.txt in your next reply.

I got a error message saying "C:/" folder is not accessible

I get another message saying Windows cannot access the specified, path, or file. You may not have the appropriate permission to access the item.

Sorry for the complications and I appriciate your patience.
