We apologize for the delay in responding to your request for help. Here at Bleeping Computer we get overwhelmed at times, and we are trying our best to keep up. Please note that your topic was not intentionally overlooked. Our mission is to help everyone in need, but sometimes it takes just a little longer to get to every request for help.

If you have since resolved the original problem you were having, we would appreciate you letting us know. If not please perform the following steps below so we can have a look at the current condition of your machine. If you have not done so, include a description of your problem, along with any steps you may have performed so far.

Upon completing the steps below a staff member will review and take the steps necessary with you to get your machine back in working order clean and free of malware.

Here is some information on the malware that you have reported:

W32/Sdbot-AAD is a network worm with backdoor functionality for the Windows platform.

W32/Sdbot-AAD spreads to remote network shares protected by weak passwords and to computers already infected with the following Trojan backdoors: Troj/Kuang, Troj/Sub7, Troj/NetDevil and W32/MyDoom.

W32/Sdbot-AAD allows remote access to and control of the infected computer. The worm connects to a preconfigured IRC server and awaits commands from a remote attacker.

W32/Sdbot-AAD copies itself to the Windows system folder as "svxhost.exe" and creates the following registry entries in order to run automatically on computer login:

Microsoft Synchronization Manager

Microsoft Synchronization Manager

Microsoft Synchronization Manager

We need to see some information about what is happening in your machine. Please perform the following scan:
  • Download DDS by sUBs from one of the following links. Save it to your desktop.
  • Double click on the DDS icon, allow it to run.
  • A small box will open, with an explanation about the tool. No input is needed, the scan is running.
  • Notepad will open with the results, click no to the Optional_Scan
  • Follow the instructions that pop up for posting the results.
  • Close the program window, and delete the program from your desktop.
Please note: You may have to disable any script protection running if the scan fails to run. After downloading the tool, disconnect from the internet and disable all antivirus protection. Run the scan, enable your A/V and reconnect to the internet. Information on A/V control HERE

If you are in fact infected with this, after your computer has been cleaned, I suggest that you change passwords.

Thanks and again sorry for the delay.

When you ran DDS, it should have produced two textfiles. There should also be one named Attach.txt. Please post that. Thanks.

Please uninstall Limewire and BitComet, and any other P2P programs. The nature of such software and the high incidence of malware in files downloaded with them is counter productive to restoring your PC to a healthy state. There is a list here: http://en.community.dell.com/forums/p/1924...9.aspx#19367569

Following that, please click here to download AVP Tool by Kaspersky.
  • Save it to your desktop.
  • Reboot your computer into SafeMode.

You can do this by restarting your computer and continually tapping the F8 key until a menu appears.
Use your up arrow key to highlight SafeMode then hit enter

  • Double click the setup file to run it.
  • Click Next to continue.
  • It will by default install it to your desktop folder.Click Next.
  • Hit ok at the prompt for scanning in Safe Mode.
  • It will then open a box There will be a tab that says Automatic scan.
  • Under Automatic scan make sure these are checked.

  • System Memory
  • Startup Objects
  • Disk Boot Sectors.
  • My Computer.
  • Also any other drives (Removable that you may have)

After that click on Security level then choose Customize then click on the tab that says Heuristic Analyzer then choose Enable Deep rootkit search then choose ok.
Then choose OK again then you are back to the main screen.
  • Then click on Scan at the to right-hand corner.
  • It will automatically Neutralize any objects found.
  • If some objects are left un-neutralized then click the button that says Neutralize all
  • If it says it cannot be Neutralized then choose The delete option when prompted.
  • After that is done click on the reports button at the bottom and save it to file name it Kas.
  • Save it somewhere convenient like your desktop and just post only the detected Virus\malware in the report it will be at the very top under Detected post those results in your next reply. Let me know how things are running at that point.

Note: This tool will self uninstall when you close it so please save the log before closing it.
