Hello there,
I am in a terrible state with my compter after it was infected i this nasty bug. A Windows Firewall Security Alert message keeps popping up asking me if I want to block this suspicious software. Given me only the option of Enabling protection and bringing me to some probably fake protection site.
I am a person with little computer knowledge and been trying various things before finding your valuable sites. Used SuperantiSpyware,ComboFix. No benefit.
I have been reading through your site, so got Hijack this and am posting the logfile

Please help me Thank you!

Hello dear friend,
Thanks for the reply; I am at my workplace now; so could u please wait till 19:30 GMT, so that I would be back home, by then.
Meanwhile I had done a few things after going through this forum; and it seems the computer is working now.
Cleared all restore points, running i normal setup.
Also disabled user account control.
Also removed the visible Java components. (Now Java all updated, once I thought I had solved the problem)

After removing the file from C:\Documents and Settings\Owner\Application Data\Google in SAFE MODE
the nasty pop-up has gone and I was able to access internet via IE.

Then scanned with MBAM
MBAM scanned fully and then said that there was one infected file, but on the screen for Show results nothing came up. Another pop-up came up asking me to notify MBAM people about this error -Error code731(0,9)
I tried to save the logfile, but nothing happened, searched for it - showed that there was a file at same time in Microsoft Word Folder - nothing there after fixing that document.

This all came up at the very end of scanning. I did another scan, this time not the all important C disk. But a file was shown to be infected and this was deleted properly and a logfile was saved. i.e,.

Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware 1.31
Database version: 1499
Windows 6.0.6000

Files Infected:
C:\Users\pkuri\Azureus_3.0.5.0_windows.exe (Trojan.FakeAlert) -> Quarantined and deleted successfully.

Then I scanned with Kaspersky online scanner - no infected files found after a detailed scan-online.
Then downloaded latest JAVA and updated VISTA.

Now computer is working OK, but I am not sure if all the nasty bugs have been removed and am a bit apprehensive. So would do what u say. Please give me a few hours.
Thanks.

Hi I prefer kaspersky stand alone anti virus it is expensive but can detect and handle infections that most antivirus programs cannot.
ALso to compliment that MalwareBytes has a good antispyware shield but those are paid items only for free I recommend the below:
These are free.
AVG free 8.0
Note this is free antispyware protection and Antivirus protection.

or

Antivir
this is just antivirus protection.

Also I recommend removing these getting rid of these items as well as it is too much protection plus you should not have 2 firewall's running at once I recommend only running the Internet security suite that you have.
Windows Defender
SUPERAntiSpyware
Zone ALarm firewall

AFter doing that it should run even smoother.
=======================
Your Logs are clean

The following is a list of tools and utilities that I like to suggest to people.
You do not have to have all or any of them they are only suggestions.
This list is full of great tools and utilities to help you understand how you got infected and how to keep from getting infected again.

Spybot Search & Destroy-Uber powerful tool which can search and annhilate nasties that make it onto your system. Now with an Immunize section that will help prevent future infections.

Spyware Blaster - Great prevention tool to keep nasties from installing on your system.

Spywareguard-Works as a Spyware "Shield" to protect your computer from getting malware in the first place.

Windows Updates - It is very important to make sure that both Internet Explorer and Windows are kept current with the latest critical security patches from Microsoft. To do this just start Internet Explorer and select Tools > Windows Update, and follow the online instructions from there.

Prevention article To find out more information about how you got infected in the first place and some great guidelines to follow to prevent future infections please read the Prevention artice by Miekiemoes.
