Hey guys,

I think I have a problem w/ the Zlob Trojan virus. It has hijacked my browser so that it says "Insecure Internet Activity. Threat of virus attack" and asks me to click to get advanced protection or click to continue "unprotected." I also get a pop up that looks like it's from window's firewall saying I'm infected with Zlob Trojan.

I ran spybot several times as well as AVG 8 scanner and was not able to eliminate the problem!

Here are the logs:

Once again welcome:)
I have a number of steps for you to follow, please complete each step in the order given and if you are unsure of anything please ask. It may assist you to either print this post out and or save it to note pad for reference.

Lets get started;

Step#1
I see that you have Viewpoint installed on your computer;
Viewpoint Manager is considered as foistware instead of malware since it is installed without users approval but doesn't spy or do anything "bad". This changed from what we know in 2006 read this article:

http://www.clickz.com/news/article.php/3561546

I suggest you remove the program now. Click on start > run > and then paste the following into the "open" field: appwiz.cpl and press OK. From within Add or Remove Programs uninstall the following if they exist: Viewpoint, Viewpoint Manager, Viewpoint Media Player.

Step#2
I also see that you have WeatherBug this programme is associated with malware, please see Here for further details.

To remove this programme please follow the below instructions;
Click "Start" on the taskbar and then click on the "Control Panel" icon.
Please doubleclick the "Add or Remove Programs" icon
A list of programs installed will be "populated" this may take a bit of time.
If they exist, uninstall the following by clicking on the following entries and selecting "remove":

WeatherBug

Additional instructions can be found here if needed.

Step#3
We will begin with ComboFix.exe. Please visit this webpage for download links, and instructions for running the tool:

http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/combofix/how-to-use-combofix

* Ensure you have disabled all anti virus and anti malware programs so they do not interfere with the running of ComboFix.

Please include the C:\ComboFix.txt in your next reply for further review.

Step#4
I see that you have Hijack this installed on your commputer. Please double click on Hijack This and Select Do a system scan and save a logfile
Please post the resultant log in your next post.

Finally,well for this post, please post back the following;
  • If you removed viewpoint
  • if you removed weatherbug
  • The log produced by Combofix - found here [b]C:\ComboFix.txt
  • The log that Hijack This produced
  • How your computer is running
