My DVD drive on my laptop doesn't show up in the "my computer" menu, and it doesn't show up when I use other programs like VLC media player. I can only see it in the Add hardware wizard and it has the exclamation point on it, indicating it's messed up. When I try to install it with the wizard, it says "Windows cannot load the device driver for this hardware. The driver may be corrupted or missing. (Code 39)." Is there another way to fix it?

Having grandkids is God's way of giving you a 2nd chance because you were too busy working your butt off the 1st time around

I experienced this same problem in Vista Home Premium on my wife's Sony laptop. This fixed my problem.
