I came across an article on Google saying that SCRNSAVE.EXE could be malware and another article saying it was a genuine windows program. While checking entries after running Autoruns I saw in the Winlogon folder the following entry.

HKCU\Control Panel\Desktop\Scrnsave.exe

Is this a genuine windows process or is it something I shouldn't have?. If genuine what exactly does it do?. Thanks in advance for any help offered.

Read this. It looks to be legit but it seems that some malware may try to disguise itself with a similar name.
