I recently visited a proxy site, and I think it messed up the computer pretty badly.

It won't let me open Malwarebytes, and the internet wasn't working. Now it won't even get past the welcome screen.

Is there anything I can do to try to fix it?

Sorry for the lack of details and the hopelessness of the problem

Can you boot in safe mode? MBAM should run in there. What other AV do you have and what's the OS?

Apparently it let me boot in regular mode for once. I'm putting all the important stuff onto a flash drive just in case... I have McAfee installed, and MBAM, and I also have that HijackThis, but I don't think that's necessary yet. I'm running on XP.

(I'm on another computer, by the way.)

make sure all the AV is updated and current...use the second comp for manual install if need be.

Even with outdated definitions, if it's within 6 months they should at least grab something.

Run MBAM in full scan mode, it'll take longer then quick, but it's more thorough....you prolly already know, but as soon as you post a HJT log the mods willmove it to the HJT forum. If you decide to go that route just post a link to the HJT thread here so everyone knows.

Edit: aactually, was this the same issue? you may want to continue with that as it can do more harm than good to jump tech's mid-repair.

though IMO it sounds like a Zlob hit, as it alerted you that you were infected and prompted for a RAS DL.

Yeah I should probably just do that again, lol.

But there's a big problem.

I started it in Safe Mode, and everything seemed to be going fine, but I still can't start MBAM.

It does the little hourglass thing, but it never opens up...

Any suggestions?

EDIT: I found that it opens in the Task Manager, but it isn't opening up...

Haha well I don't know how the admins would react, but it worked out PERFECTLY.
Thank you so much, and don't worry, BC is still going to be my primary "go to guy" for help.

Thanks.
