Hi All,

A friend of mine updated her Norton (I'm not sure what versions) and now she has lost all of her programs and data. When windows starts, she only has a "Norton Protected Recycle Bin" and a "My Computer" icon on the desktop. When I go to Start->All Programs there are only a couple of basic windows options, but each of the areas are empty.

I tried to start up in "Safe Mode" as the administrator and it hung more than 15 minutes before I shut it down. I wanted to do a system restore, but am unable to get to it.

You MAY need access to her computer ??XP CD ; one assumes she can find it?

Do you know how she attempted the update? Was it from a legit web site?
