Hello there,

i would first like to say Hello, and that I really appreciate what you guys are doing here.

On to the problem..

I had a problem with a virus and i read your forums and was able to delete the Virus and adware from my PC. But in doing this i fear there may be some residual damage.

When i try to go to "Organize" on a folder and try to click "Folder and Search Options" the field is no longer highlighted so i cannot choose it. I am the administrator on the machine so I am supposed to have full permissions and did before the virus. so i am figuring it changed, either some registry entries or some policies in order to prevent me from seeing any hidden files that may have been installed. Is there a way to restore it so i am able to choose it?

All help will be appreciated

I am running:

HP Pavilion DV6700
Windows Vista Home Premium
AMD Athlon X2

Can you get to the same dialog by going to the Tools menu and clicking on Folder Options?
How about going to Control Panel (Classic View) and selecting Folder options?

If you can get there using those methods it would seem that your context menu has been damages.
If not, then there's a deeper problem. I'd suspect corruption of explorer.exe - but that's just a SWAG (Scientific Wild A**ed Guess))
My browser caused a flood of traffic, sio my IP address was banned. Hope to fix it soon. Will get back to posting as soon as Im able.

Could have to do with File Permissions (CACLS or NTFS Permissions)
Could also be a registry setting, although I'm unclear as to where that might be.

I'll see if I can find out what key it is/might be.
