I've been redirected here, as it seems my problems aren't related to virus' etc..
Anyway the problems I've been having are:
-no sound
-can't cut, copy and paste
-unable to turn off system restore
-minimizing a program doesn't go onto the task bar
-slow boot up

Any possible clues? Thanks for your time!

As Billy O'Neil said, it could be a possible hard drive problem
You need to go to the support site of the hard drive manufacturer and download their diagnostic utility and use it to check for problems

Thanks, I can't actually install those tools, because windows installer doesn't seem to co-operate  Argh, frustration haha, thanks for the tips though. Says it can't be accessed at this time, try running not in safe mode.. I'm already in normal mode. Might just try a full re-install when I can be bothered.
