IE half opens then closes

Hi People 1st time i've used the site so let's hope i can find someone who can give me the answers.Thx
When i open IE it will half open n then close.
But the second time i do it everything is ok.
I'm using vista home premium 32bit.
Not really computer literate but know enough,
so if you could keep it simple would be appreciated.

What do you mean 'half-open'? Can you elaborate a bit more? Does the IE window fill half the screen, and then close automatically, or does it load a webpage halfway thorugh and quit?

I'd suggest running a virus/malware scan first just to ensure that everything is clean. Update your anti-virus software and run a full scan.

Also, I would suggest trying alternative browers such as the excellent Opera or Firefox. Both are 100% free and IMHO, far superior to IE.

It has closed when in website but mainly the browser doesn't open at all.
this does not happen everytime but seems to be getting worse.
have run avast n spyware doctor but nothing was detected.
