When I try to do some basis steps on Outlook like send a message or delete an old message, I get this popup "The messaging interface has returned an unknown error. If the problem persists, restart Outlook". No where in the HELP section do I see any reference to "messaging interface". Can anyone enlighten me?

Many thanks, David

Hi penguin88,

What version of Outlook are you using?

I've found several references to this error which might help.

If you have an older version of Outlook, this might help: See if there's something called TaskPad in Page Setup. If so, try unchecking it.

If that's not something that will work, try disabling the addins by going to Tools > Options > Other tab > Advanced Options
Click on the Addin Manager button. Remove any reference to Google desktop. (or any other addin not native to Outlook) Click ok.
Do the same for the Com-Add-ins button.

Microsoft also has a patch, but I'm not sure it applies in your case and it's only for the specific symptoms it describes.

Did any of this help?
