Hi guys,

I'm working on my father in-law's computer and earlier in the week the keyboard was working but the mouse didn't work at all. I manage to get into device manager and it said the mouse wasn't working properly. I had to shut down the computer because I didn't have enough time to work on it. Now a week later I started up the computer and the keyboard & mouse doesn't work at all but the light comes on the keyboard.
I tried the following to fix the problem:
- I tried using known working keyboard & mouse
- I can't get into safe mode
- I open the case and the ps/2 connectors seemed fine
- Tried connecting the mouse to the USB.

Any help would be appreciated.

I'm using Windows XP. Also, the only time I can use the keyboard is in CMOS.
