Hey,

For the past few days I've been having problems with a pop-up coming up while browsing websites. I ran Spybot S&D, Malwarebytes, Symantec, and SuperAnti-Spyware and all have shown that Trojan.Vundo have been causing the problems but after cleaning the infected files new *.dll files are poping up along with some registry entries that just reappear after deletion. If anyone can help me I really would appreciate it. Thanks!

Here's my HijackThis log:

I do not recommend that you have more than one anti virus product installed and running on your computer at a time. The reason for this is that if both products have their automatic (Real-Time) protection switched on, then those products which do not encrypt the virus strings within them can cause other anti virus products to cause "false alarms". It can also lead to a clash as both products fight for access to files which are opened again this is the resident/automatic protection. In general terms, the two programs may conflict and cause:
1) False Alarms: When the anti virus software tells you that your PC has a virus when it actually doesn't.
2) System Performance Problems: Your system may lock up due to both products attempting to access the same file at the same time.
Therefore please go to add/remove in the control panel and remove either Norton or KAspersky.
============================================================
Please re-open Hijackthis and click on "Do a system scan only"
Then place a check mark next to these entries below:

O2 - BHO: (no name) - {7f295bcb-2d61-4c88-ba20-8fe315302be0} - C:\WINDOWS\system32\nasowago.dll (file missing)
O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [bifopameda] Rundll32.exe "C:\WINDOWS\system32\fiyenowe.dll",s

Now click on Fix Checked and then close Hijackthis.

Download ComboFix from one of these locations:

Link 1
Link 2
Link 3

* IMPORTANT !!! Save ComboFix.exe to your Desktop

  • Disable your AntiVirus and AntiSpyware applications, usually via a right click on the System Tray icon. They may otherwise interfere with our tools

  • Double click on ComboFix.exe & follow the prompts.

  • As part of it's process, ComboFix will check to see if the Microsoft Windows Recovery Console is installed. With malware infections being as they are today, it's strongly recommended to have this pre-installed on your machine before doing any malware removal. It will allow you to boot up into a special recovery/repair mode that will allow us to more easily help you should your computer have a problem after an attempted removal of malware.

  • Follow the prompts to allow ComboFix to download and install the Microsoft Windows Recovery Console, and when prompted, agree to the End-User License Agreement to install the Microsoft Windows Recovery Console.

**Please note: If the Microsoft Windows Recovery Console is already installed, ComboFix will continue it's malware removal procedures.

Once the Microsoft Windows Recovery Console is installed using ComboFix, you should see the following message:

Please open up Notepad and copy all of the items in the code box below.
Change the "Save As Type" to "All Files". Save it as fixthis.reg on your Desktop.
REGEDIT4

[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\system\currentcontrolset\control\lsa]
"Authentication Packages"=hex(7):73,63,65,63,6c,69,00,00
Now double-click fixthis.reg.
A window will come up asking if you want to let it merge with the registry.
Click yes.

You can delete that after it merges.
========================
Cleanup:

Please download OT CLeanit from Here save it to your desktop.
Double click on OT Clean it to run it.
Then click on Clean up.
Restart your computer when prompted.
This will remove what tools we used.
===============

  • Click the "Download" button to the right.
  • Select your Platform: "Windows".
  • Select your Language: "Multi-language".
  • Read the License Agreement, and then check the box that says: "Accept License Agreement".
  • Click Continue and the page will refresh.
  • Click on the link to download Windows Offline Installation and save the file to your desktop.
  • Close any programs you may have running - especially your web browser.
  • Go to Start > Settings > Control Panel, double-click on Add/Remove Programs and remove all older versions of Java.
  • Check (highlight) any item with Java Runtime Environment (JRE or J2SE) in the name.
  • Click the Remove or Change/Remove button.
  • Repeat as many times as necessary to remove each Java versions.

======================
Use a Firewall:

Install and use a firewall with outbound protection
While the firewall built into Windows XP is adequate to protect you from incoming attacks, it will not be much help in alerting you to programs already on your PC attempting to connect to remote servers
I therefore strongly recommend that you install one of the following free firewalls: Sunbelt Free Firewall or Zonealarm
See Bleepingcomputer's excellent tutorial to help using and understanding a firewall here
Note: You should only have one firewall installed at a time. Having more than one antivirus program installed at once is likely to cause conflicts and may well decrease your overall protection as well as seriously impairing the performance of your PC.

=============================
Delete\uninstall anything else that we have used.

System Restore
Then I will need you to reset your System Restore points.
The link below shows how to create a clean restore point.

If you are using Vista then see this link > http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/tutorials/...143.html#manual
=====================================
After that your log is clean. :thumbsup:

The following is a list of tools and utilities that I like to suggest to people.
You do not have to have all or any of them they are only suggestions.
This list is full of great tools and utilities to help you understand how you got infected and how to keep from getting infected again.

Spybot Search & Destroy-Uber powerful tool which can search and annhilate nasties that make it onto your system. Now with an Immunize section that will help prevent future infections.

Spyware Blaster - Great prevention tool to keep nasties from installing on your system.

Spywareguard-Works as a Spyware "Shield" to protect your computer from getting malware in the first place.

Windows Updates - It is very important to make sure that both Internet Explorer and Windows are kept current with the latest critical security patches from Microsoft. To do this just start Internet Explorer and select Tools > Windows Update, and follow the online instructions from there.

Prevention article To find out more information about how you got infected in the first place and some great guidelines to follow to prevent future infections please read the Prevention artice by Miekiemoes.

Ok now I'm having some problems. I'm writing from my other computer. I rebooted when OT Clean It prompted me to, the taskbar won't show up on the screen and IE won't open. After I click on IE it pops up and then immediately closes. Also mouse pointer continuously keeps blinking it's hour glass as if it were bus. Any idea what happened?

Thanks.

Yep I've rebooted a couple times and even tried the last known good configuration option. No luck so far.

hmm very strange have never had that happen before.
All Ot clean it does is remove some of the tools we use.

Hi try this.
Try to boot into Safe mode and see if the same thing happens.

I booted into Safe Mode and the same thing happens with the taskbar. Also while booting the "Windows is starting up" and "Loading your personal settings" screen stayed up for quite a while.

Could the problem be the new registry entry?
