What sort of protection are you looking for?

I've got pretty severe eye issues (very photophobic and extremely sensitive to glare).

I've been using LCD monitors for several years now and don't have any issues with them. I range from a 15" laptop monitor to a 32" LCD TV and have no problems with them.

As for glare, that'll depend on the light source, but I can use my laptop on an airplane or a bus without much difficulty.

Are they easy on the eyes? I spend from 4 to 6 hours a day online (with the 32" LCD TV at 800x600) and my eyes are just fine.

It sounds like you're sensitive to just about what I'm sensitive to. To make sure, take a trip to the nearest large store that sells computer monitors and see how they look to you.

My biggest problem (at the monitor) is with reflected light - so be careful where you set the monitor to minimize the reflections.
