Ok, I've been doing this for a while, and I'm sure someone else here does it as well.

Requirements:
-Mozilla Firefox 1.03
-Gmail account
-Mozilla Firefox Gmail notifier 0.4.2
-Membership here

Instructions:
1.)First thing, if you haven't done so already sign up here.
2.) Once you get an account here. Proceed to your "My Control Panel."
3.) Locate and click on E-mail settings
4.) Check mark the following:
a.) Include a copy of the post when emailing me from a subscribed topic
b.) Enable 'Email Notification' by default?
5.) Then click Amend my mail settings
6.) Then go to http://gmail.google.com/gmail/ and create sign-up and create an account.
7.) If you don't have it already, goto http://mozilla.org/ and download Mozilla Firefox.
8.) Open up Firefox (if not already in it) and install the following extension here.
9.) Now exit Firefox and open it back up.
10.) Right click on the gmail enevlope and click preferences.
11.) Make sure that "Show statusbar item," "Show system notification for new mail (Windows only). and "Automatically log in." are checked.
12.) Change "Check for new mail every 10 minutes", to every 1 minute.
13.) OPTIONAL: Change the "Clicking on the icon when logged in open Gmail in current tab," to new tab.
14.) Now click Ok.
15.) Left click on the envople and enter your username and password for your gmail account.

Now everytime someone responds to your post, within a minute you'll be alerted about it! :flowers:

However the Gmail Notifier in FF, will also let you add a sound file to play when you receive and e-mail. So theoretically I can have "Blvd of Broken Dreams" start playing...

Nice tip, but why check mail every minute? Seems like overkill to me.

Actually no it isn't. Let's say your just joining here and your desperately want a question answered, and your tired of checking back and finding no response. Just do what I suggested (which is what I do) and your good to go! That's why I respond so fast to places I've already posted at least once in.

My father was a simple man. My mother was a simple woman. You see the result standing in front of you, a simpleton.

Instead of right clicking on the envelope, this will also work:

1. Click on Tools
2. Click Extensions
3. Highlight GMail Notifier
4. Click Options

This is great. I was using a DesktopX widget that notified me of my g-mail.... but this is better.
