All that happens when I try to open an avi is an error screen comes up for both the file player;
windows media player,quiktime, windows media classic, real player, VLC and for windows explorer. But I have nuked my computer with anti-virus
and anti-spyware and now there are no threats left but avi still won't open. And wierdly other files within the same folder as the avi files e.g MP3s still work!!!!
Is there anyway I can play avi files again????

Howdy Why Wont it...

Do you have the correct codecs? Try downloading K-Lite codec pack

And download AVI preview and make sure it is and AVI and it is not corrupt.

If the avi has been downloaded i dont think it has been completed fully,thats why it wont open and your other files are opening.
