I have Windows Vista Home Premium and I use vista's built in program that back's up files and information. I've had some problems with my browser being hijacked, and I decided a clean install was easier than jumping through hoops.

In any case, my first question is: If I backed up after I had the virus/trojan/whatever, will it be restored?

2nd: How does one go about restoring their computer using that backup utility? Last time I did this, I think I remember it saying it thought it was from another computer. I can't remember if that caused any problems.

3rd: Is there an extremely simple way to restore all my programs, or will I just have to write the names of them down and install them all later?

Thanks for your help everyone!

1 ) Yes, the virus/trojan will be restored also
2 ) http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/tutorials/how-to-use-vista-complete-pc-backup/
3 ) Yes there is, but it relies on you having made an image of your hard drive prior to the infection. Otherwise, it's write 'em down and reinstall them from scratch.
