Hi guys,

I couldnt find anything on panoramio, so I opened a new thread. As some of you know, I have hosted my pictures so far on my subdomain with a software that is alright, but produces quite a bit of stored data on my site. As I only have 1GB of storage and am already half way there, I was looking for alternatives. Some I found so far:
  • Flickr
  • Photobucket (already got an account)
  • Deviantart
  • Panoramio
There is a couple more or less I might have forgotten, as they all seem to have some kind of draw back that makes me not decide using them. With Flickr its the limited photos that you can show if you are using the free version. With Photobucket its similar, plus I dont like the navigation for these kind of purposes. DeviantArt thus far has "scared me away" due to the fact that they say you cannot delete your account, due to some software problem and I was under the impression you can only upload a photo at a time. Panoramio I cannot find anything about. It just tells you to straight sign up, rather than a list of all the "kewl" things you can do with it, that I was used to be confronted with, by other services the like.

Any ideas, suggestions? Preferably it should be free of charge, as its no point to pay for something, if I could host it for free on my website. One of these days I am going to implement some kind of CMS too, so anything that could be implemented into those would also be fine.

Thanks in advance!

YoHi

thanks for that. I was considering google picasa webalbum, but the mighty google gave me a bit of a thought. On second thought, panoramio seems to be just as Googlish :flowers:  . Any others you can suggest? Just out of curiosity.

Not sure exactly what it is you're looking for besides space, and ability to organize. One additional not mentioned in the review, but commented is http://www.arkiva.com/index.php which gives 2 GB free. I have no personal experience with any of the ones suggested. I only provide the information.

hey there,

thanks again for the links. I checked them and what looks quite nice is "smugmug" - however, its only free for 14 days. After that it costs a minimum of 40 USD a year. Arkiva looks good, but is more for storing all sorts of data. I am more looking for a photo album alternative.
