I stupidly installed an exe from a suspicious website and it installed a program called "homeview" on my machine. Needless to say, this program was probably a virus. It immediately caused a physical memory dump and after I rebooted, Windows Defender/Norton/Adaware can not connect to the net to find updates. Google links are being redirected to a variety of ad sites. And adaware finds a "hijacker" named something like 85.255.xxxxx (see line O17 in the HT log below) but even after I click "remove" the same stuff pops up in the repeat scan.

Anyway, the log is below. Any help you all could give would be GREATLY appreciated.

Thanks!!!!

I ran Malwarebytes and it found these entries (but hasn't been able to remove them permanently since re-running this after reboot brings them right back):

I know I got no reply, but just in case someone googles and finds this, I wanted to let them know how I seemingly resolved it.

Malwarebytes and Adaware were not able to be updated which it turns out was a pretty big problem. So I went into safe mode and used Hijack This to fix/kill lines

O1 - Hosts: ::1 localhost
O2 - BHO: Browser Address Error Redirector - {CA6319C0-31B7-401E-A518-A07C3DB8F777} - C:\Program Files\BAE\BAE.dll
O13 - Gopher Prefix:
O17 - HKLM\System\CCS\Services\Tcpip\..\{6065A66C-8E0D-480B-A329-499EA4831DC1}: NameServer = 85.255.112.126;85.255.112.131
O17 - HKLM\System\CCS\Services\Tcpip\..\{696F4BA0-88F0-489E-A827-71DE56631027}: NameServer = 85.255.112.126;85.255.112.131
O17 - HKLM\System\CCS\Services\Tcpip\..\{765C72DB-A4D1-4335-A7C0-378D708A7619}: NameServer = 85.255.112.126;85.255.112.131
O23 - Service: stllssvr - Unknown owner - C:\Program Files\Common Files\SureThing Shared\stllssvr.exe (file missing)
O23 - Service: Windows Tribute Service - Unknown owner - C:\Windows\system32\kdrcw.exe

After I killed the last line (023 kdrcw) I was able to update MalwareBytes and rescan. The resultant malwarebytes scan found a couple extra files which weren't being picked up in earlier scans (even in safe mode) and seemingly fixed it.

Thanks for reading. Good luck.

Thanks for telling us what you did.

Should you find other problems, please start a new topic.
