Have you tried updating your graphics drivers from the Nvidia website?

Have you tried patching the game? I just did a quick check on google, and patch 1.1 is out. http://www.fileshack.com/file.x/13264/Call...t+War+1.1+Patch . There are other sites hosting the patch download files, that one may not be the best, it's just the first one I clicked.

I've had that same prob with another game & it turned out to be my firewall. Go into your firewall & allow anything that has to do with that game.

Also anti-virus. Try installing to a different part of the drive or even better another drive.

Problem #2 PC - Call of Duty World at War Error Message: “Error during initialization: Unhandled exception caught”

Solution : as posted by reeven on ?

You must do this:

To remedy this problem click:
Start>Control Panel>Sound

Right Click on the default playback device (e.g. Speakers) and click properties. From there select the Advanced tab.
To eliminate this error the default playback format must be set at 24 bit 48000Hz (Studio Quality). Simply select this from the dropdown list and apply the settings.

Try launching the game now-Everything should run fine.

UPDATE THIS ONLY SEEMS TO WORK FOR VISTA USERS WE WILL FIND A FIX.
