I have an HP Pavilion desktop PC with XP Home SP3. When we purchased it some years ago, it came with a free printer. (Canon Pixma iP1600.) A real "cheapy", but it was free.

The printer is broken. A window keeps coming up saying that the paper is jammed, when it is not. I have spent enough time trying to get it to work, and it is not worth it. We are planning on purchasing a better printer. We have no idea what we are going to purchase yet; we'll wait and see what our local store has to offer.

I can't figure out how to remove all of the related software that goes to the old printer. I have looked in "Add or Remove Programs" in the Control Panel, but it is not listed there. "Printers and Faxes" in the Control Panel says that it will show me installed printers, and help me add new ones, but says nothing about removing old ones. I have also tried looking at the CD that came with the printer, but it has no uninstall option on it.

Thank you to all who take the time to reply.

Hi .

Two things I would do:

a. Delete the printer from the installed printer listing. There should be a button to the left for that, after you click on the listing for the printer in question. Or you can just right-click, Delete.

b. Remove all HP software (via Add/Remove Programs) that relates to the printer or its functions.

That should take care of it.

Ah, I see it now. Thank you for the assistance. I didn't look hard enough the first time.

(I see we have the same "BC" anniversary.)
