Whats up....

So i am having a problem setting up my router as an access point....
I live in a house with my landlord in back and he has the cable router in his part of the house
He ran an ethernet cable through the wall so i can connect with that but i want to set up my
router as an access point so i can connect wirelessly with my pc and my macbook
I have tried using the online Linksys tech support but they don't seem to know how to do it
I am using a Linksys WRT54G and i have Vista on my pc... any help would be appreciated
