My new E-Machine computer with windows vista has quit working. It won't load my desktop! I have tried system restore from the safe mode and it doesn't help. If I go to task manager I can go to new task and start a new "explorer.exe" but Security, networking, restoring and many more programs and files still won't work. I can switch users and my son's desktop loads, but the same links freeze up and won't work. Please help!

It sounds like the Windows installion is corrupted. This can be common to just one User on the pc, but when it happens to multiple users, you may way to run a diagnostic utility to test the integrity of the hard drive. This may come down to re-installing windows from the factory Image.

I would boot the computer up and look for a Boot Menu and boot to diagnostics partition and test the Hard Drive.

Good Luck
