I usually don't use firefox, but in this instance I have to because even if I try to load Internet Explorer it will load Firefox and the adds will keep coming.

Firefox will auto-launch and continually loading adds. All the methods I have are outdated to deal with this. I did Run AVG-Anti Spy and Ad-Aware(discontinued) both in safe mode, still nothing.

Hope you can help.

Hi,

Your system is severly infected. Problem with these infections nowadays is, it causes a lot of damage. Even if we clean the malware off your system, I can't guarantee that your system will be clean afterwards, because these infections/bundles leave a lot of leftovers behind that most scanners won't even recognise and logs won't show.
Also, I can't promise you we can repair all the damage it caused... Even after cleaning the malware, you can still get errors afterwards because of the damage. Solving these is not always possible since it will be searching for a needle in a haystack to find the right cause and solution.
So, we can try to clean this up and do what we can, but keep in mind that we can't solve ALL problems this malware already caused.

In light of this it would be wise for you to back up any files and folders that you don't want to lose before we start. Reason I am telling this is because when a system is so terribly infected and we try to clean this up manually, the damage that is already present may interfere with our removal attempts.

Please uninstall the way outdated version of AVG you are having. Then reboot. The same applies for AVG Antispyware; so uninstall that one as well.
After reboot, download the latest version of AVG from here: http://free.avg.com/download-avg-anti-virus-free-edition
This version has the AVG Antispyware already included.
Let it perform a full scan and let it quarantine everything it is finding.
Then reboot once again.

After reboot, rescan with HijackThis and post a new HijackThislog in your next reply. Then we'll start from there.

Unfortunately there is a new wrinkle. I am unable to install AVG as requested because I can no longer run the compter in main mode, only in safe. It will not allow me to install in safe mode. Unfortunately this was after I uninstalled both older versions of AVG. The Hijack This log I have posted is the best I can do.

Hi,

It looks like the huge amount of malware you are dealing with already made a lot of damage. We can try to fix your computer, but don't expect miracles.
If there are too many problems, it may be better to backup important data, then format and reinstall, because after all, this will be the fastest and especially the safest solution.
Anyway, we can give it a try first, so do next...

* Please download Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware from Here or Here

Double Click mbam-setup.exe to install the application.
  • Make sure a checkmark is placed next to Update Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware and Launch Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware, then click Finish.
  • If an update is found, it will download and install the latest version.
  • Once the program has loaded, select "Perform Quick Scan", then click Scan.
  • The scan may take some time to finish,so please be patient.
  • When the scan is complete, click OK, then Show Results to view the results.
  • Make sure that everything is checked, and click Remove Selected.
  • When disinfection is completed, a log will open in Notepad and you may be prompted to Restart.(See Extra Note)
  • The log is automatically saved by MBAM and can be viewed by clicking the Logs tab in MBAM.
  • Copy&Paste the entire report in your next reply along with a fresh HijackThis log.
Extra Note:
If MBAM encounters a file that is difficult to remove,you will be presented with 1 of 2 prompts,click OK to either and let MBAM proceed with the disinfection process,if asked to restart the computer,please do so immediatly.

Hi,

Can you post a log made in Windows normal mode? Because the HijackThislogs made from safe mode don't show all. Also, Malwarebytes still have to perform some tasks after reboot back to normal mode.

I had an issue with Combo Fix. During the running It logged me back to the user log in page of Windows. I signed back in since I did not see any prompt about it when I read the directions. It reloaded my desktop while it was creating a log. Hope that didn't effect to much.

Hi,

Once we are done here, please change all your passwords, because they are currently known. Also, I do not know who is responsible for this computer, but this one was already infected for at least 2 years!!! Are you actually aware of the risks? This is not only your problem, but also everyone elses problem, because your computer is responsible for infecting other computers as well. And this all because of the use of illegal software/cracks/keygens, because I can clearly see in your log that you're using illegal software. I really really hope that you make sure this won't happen again.

* Open notepad - don't use any other texteditor than notepad or the script will fail.
Copy/paste the text in the quotebox below into notepad:

File::
c:\windows\system32\hphdlnyumewj.exe
c:\program files\autorun.exe
Folder::
c:\windows\MQ
c:\documents and settings\Degan\Application Data\Twain
Driver::
hpt3xx
Rdpmdxx
JL2005
Registry::
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\software\microsoft\security center]
"AntiVirusOverride"=dword:00000000

Save this as txtfile CFScript

Then drag the CFScript into ComboFix.exe as you see in the screenshot below.

Posted Image

This will start ComboFix again. After reboot, (in case it asks to reboot), post the contents of Combofix.txt in your next reply together with a new HijackThislog.

Hi,

This looks OK again, but keep in mind that you will never be able to trust this computer anymore and problems may still be present/appear once in a while. This is normal especially after being so severly infected for at least 2 years long.

* Go to start > run and copy and paste next command in the field:

ComboFix /u

Make sure there's a space between Combofix and /
Then hit enter.

This will uninstall Combofix, delete its related folders and files, reset your clock settings, hide file extensions, hide the system/hidden files and resets System Restore again.

Your version of Java is outdated and needs to be updated to take advantage of fixes that have eliminated security vulnerabilities.
Updating Java:
  • Download the latest version of Java Runtime Environment (JRE) 6 Update 10.
  • Scroll down to where it says "Java Runtime Environment (JRE) 6 Update 10".
  • Click the "Download" button to the right.
  • For Platform, select "Windows"
  • For language, select your language
  • Read the License agreement and then Check the box that says: "I agree to the Java SE Runtime Environment 6 License Agreement".
  • Click Continue
  • Click on the link to download Windows Offline Installation and save to your desktop.
  • Close any programs you may have running - especially your web browser.
  • Go to Start > Control Panel double-click on Add/Remove programs and remove all older versions of Java.
  • Check any item with Java Runtime Environment (JRE or J2SE) in the name.
    - Examples of older versions in Add or Remove Programs:
    • Java 2 Runtime Environment, SE v1.4.2
    • J2SE Runtime Environment 5.0
    • Java™ 6 Update 5
  • Click the Remove or Change/Remove button.
  • Repeat as many times as necessary to remove each Java versions.
  • Reboot your computer once all Java components are removed.
  • Then from your desktop double-click on jre-6u10-windows-i586-p.exe to install the newest version.
Let me know in your next reply how things are now.

Everything is working alot better. For one I can actually sign in to a profile now. The only thing that confused me was after the first run of combo fix, I now have 2 Internet Explorer Icons, one says internet the other says internet explorer. Should I delete one?

Thank you very much for your patcients in this matter. I am sure you understand that despite how vigalant a person may be, the computer is always at risk. I will take matters to insure that this level of inffection does not happen again.

Thank you again.
