I recently recovered from a serious and sevre system attack, and computer seems to be taking far to long on anti virus/ad aware scans. Also internet seems to crash out every once in awhile, and slow startup and interexlorer freeze on startup. I followed the steps before doing hijack, plz someone tells me what else needs to be done and or removed.

Hello ,

My name is Mas_pogi(mark,mp) and I will be helping you with your Malware problem.
As I am still in training I will be helping you under supervision of our expert teachers, so there may be a delay between posts.
We really have shortage of coaches right now, so reply may also take a while.

Please do not run any other tool untill instructed to do so!
Please reply to this thread, do not start another!
Please tell me about any problems that have occurred during the fix.
Please tell me of any other symptoms you may be having as these can help also.
Please try as much as possible not to run anything while executing a fix.

If you still need help, please follow the instruction below;
  • Download random's system information tool (RSIT) by random/random from here and save it to your desktop.
  • Double click on RSIT.exe to run RSIT.
  • Click Continue at the disclaimer screen.
  • Once it has finished, two logs will open. Please post the contents of both log.txt (<<will be maximized) and info.txt (<<will be minimized)
You mentioned that you just get back from an infection. Could you tell what infection struck you?
If you can still remember.

With Regards,
mas_pogi

Well after the 1st combo fix (ran it without help) it was ok but then i still found a few bad files and removed most i could find. But now my internet explorer freezes when i open it after comp turns on, and during my online games i disconnect occasionally (D-link cable btw good speed). And when i run anti virus/ad-aware scans or some other system programs it seems to go alot slower then it used to. The system attacker i recovered from was Security Toolbar 7.1 and other related problems such as BHO/Hijacker/Toolbar/I-Lookup.Sbus that added strange porn icons to my desktop. Im not sure weather the remains of the attack are starting to recollect, or its a result of the combofix i ran without following proper steps.

hi.

Please read this one

ComboFix is a VERY POWERFUL tool which should NOT BE USED without guidance of an expert.

  • About 1 in 100 times the computer will not longer be able to boot after running Combofix. This requires experienced hands to restore the system to bootability.
  • There are several malware infections that "target" Combofix. Experienced Helpers are aware of these infections, and take steps to remove them prior to the use of Combofix. If you do not, various things can happen depending on the infection -- from Combofix being unable to run, to the deletion of the folder C:\Windows\System32, requiring a clean install to repair.
  • Combofix makes some rather significant changes to the internals of XP and Vista in order to work. It can therefore be very dangerous!!
  • The real power of Combofix comes not as a general purposed malware remover. It is rather modest in that capacity. Combofix is powerful because it provides to the experienced Helper a convenient and powerful front-end to Scripts. It is because of its scripting strengths, and its unique reporting capabilities, that you see Combofix often recommended. But not because of its abilities as a general malware scanner.
  • Many malware removal experts will not respond to a request for help if they see that Combofix was run by the end-user without supervision. You might find after running Combofix that your system problems are worse, and nobody is willing to help you.
  • There are several general purpose anti-malware utilities where the Author(s) intended the application for general use by end-users without Supervision. Combofix is not one of them, and you would be advised to honor that position taken by its Author.

I'll be analyzing your log and may take a while. Wait for further instructions

Mark

hi.

Welcome to BC once again  Sorry for the delay.

I have question if you don't mind, About

C:\Program Files\World of Warcraft\WoW-2.4.3-to-3.0.2-enUS-Win-Final-downloader.exe

Where did you get these?

Follow the instructions below;
  • Viewpoint Manager is considered as foistware instead of malware since it is installed without users approval but doesn't spy or do anything "bad". This changed from what we know in 2006 read this article:

    http://www.clickz.com/news/article.php/3561546

I suggest you remove the program now. Click on start > run > and then paste the following into the "open" field: appwiz.cpl and press OK. From within Add or Remove Programs uninstall the following if they exist: Viewpoint, Viewpoint Manager, Viewpoint Media Player.

  • Did you install these one?

    WinPcap 4.0.2

If not, uninstall it using ADD/REMOVE programs at the Control Panel.

  • Please note that this program is a pre-release beta version of a product and not completely tested to ensure its stability or reliability.

    TeamSpeak 2 RC2

    What is beta software?

After an initial round of in-house testing, software publishers often release new programs to be tested by the public. These pre-release versions are called beta software, usually denoted by a "b" in the version number, e.g., Netscape Navigator 2.0b5. Since the publisher couldn't possibly test the software under all possible conditions, it is reasonable to expect that wider use of the software may uncover problems that were not discovered during in-house testing. The publisher expects to be notified when users find such problems so that the program can be fixed before its official release.

In general, you should expect to run into bugs whenever using any piece of beta software. These bugs may range in severity from minor features that don't work to problems that cause your computer to crash. You should decide whether the benefit of new features in a beta program outweighs the risk of program instability before choosing to use a piece of beta software. You should also be aware that UITS will not have thoroughly tested beta software, nor will the software be guaranteed by its maker, so you should not expect the same level of support as you would receive for an official release version of the program.

The goal of a beta program is to collect information regarding the performance, quality, stability, and functionality of new products in order to iron out the bugs before they are released to the general public. If you choose to use a beta program, you use it at your own risk.

hi shimori.

Lets continue.

Please download SmitfraudFix

Double-click SmitfraudFix.exe
Select option #1 - Search by typing 1 and press "Enter"; a text file will appear, which lists infected files (if present).
Please copy/paste the content of that report into your next reply.

Note : process.exe is detected by some antivirus programs (AntiVir, Dr.Web, Kaspersky) as a "RiskTool"; it is not a virus, but a program used to stop system processes. Antivirus programs cannot distinguish between "good" and "malicious" use of such programs, therefore they may alert the user.

In your reply, please post the result of Smitfraudfix.

Thanks.

Mark

Hi shimori.

Good day
I have a few questions before we proceed.

In your past computer infection, did someone help you or a malware removal forum help to clean the mess ? If a malware removal forum had helped you, may I have a link to it?
If you just did the cleaning, what was done to clean it up? What was the infection? What was the symptoms?

Thanks.

Mark

Security Toolbar 7.1 and other related problems such as BHO/Hijacker/Toolbar/I-Lookup.Sbus that added strange porn icons to my desktop.

Sadly no i did not use a forum to help. I just used a few scans then ran a combofix (which was stupid)

Symptoms were just i couldent use my pc it was nearly a miracle i was able to still use the internet at the low speed it was running at. But now idk im just trying to find out if these small signs of slowness, internet disconnection and lacking and pauses in my anti virus scans are a result of the combofix or the virus coming back because of lacking professional removal support.
